Kia Sonet has bumper demand in the Indian market. Releasing the data, the company has said that this popular SUV has crossed the 5 lakh unit sales mark in the Indian market. This is Kia's best selling car in the sub-compact SUV segment and it accounts for about 35% of the company's total domestic sales. Sonet was launched in 2020 and since then it has gained immense popularity in the Indian market.
In 2025 itself, it touched the figure of annual sales of more than 1 lakh units for the second time. Sonet sales stood at 9,418 units in December 2025, while throughout the year, Kia India sold more than 2.80 lakh vehicles, in which Sonet had a major contribution. This milestone is a matter of pride for the company, because Sonet has made a strong place in the competitive sub-4 meter SUV segment with its style, features and performance.

The starting ex-showroom price of Kia Sonet is Rs 7.30 lakh, which goes up to Rs 15 lakh for the top variant. This is a 5 seater sub-compact SUV, whose length is 3995 mm, width is 1790 mm and wheelbase is 2500 mm. The boot space is up to 385 litres, which is quite practical for family use. In the Indian auto market, Sonet competes with vehicles like Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza.
Engine and mileage details
The company sells Kia Sonet with three engine options. The first is a 1.2 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, which gives 82 bhp power and 115 Nm torque. It is sold with a 5-speed manual or iMT, capable of delivering an ARAI claimed mileage of around 18.4 kmpl. The second 1.0 liter turbo petrol engine gives 118 bhp power and 172 Nm torque. It is offered with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT automatic and is capable of returning a mileage of around 18-18.5 kmpl
The third and largest in Kia Sonet is 1.5 liter CRDi VGT diesel engine. It produces 114 bhp power and 250 Nm torque, which is paired with 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. This is the most mileage efficient engine, with ARAI claimed fuel efficiency of up to 24.1 kmpl (manual) and 19 kmpl (automatic).
Interior and Features
Sonet is full of premium features. The top variant comes with features like 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), wireless charging, ventilated front seats, electric sunroof, Bose sound system (in some variants), 360-degree camera, blind view monitor and air purifier. Semi-leather seats, all-black theme and high quality materials have been used in the interior. ADAS Level-1 (Advanced Driver Assistance System) is available in some of the top variants, which includes automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist etc.
