What is Android Digital Car?
Android Digital Car is a virtual key of your car which is saved in your Android smartphone. This is a great alternative to physical keys. Even if you forget your keys at home, you can lock-unlock and start the car with the help of your phone. This is similar to how you control your TV, AC, fridge and other appliances from your smartphone, by saving their remotes in the phone.
How to open the car from the phone?
Android digital car mainly works using two technologies. First NFC and second ultra-wideband (UWB).
1. NFC (Near Field Communication) – This technology is used for wireless communication over short distances. To unlock the car, you have to tap your phone on the car door handle or a specific area and to start the car, you have to swipe your phone in front of the reader installed in the ignition system, just like you make a digital payment.
2. UWB (Ultra-Wideband) – UWB is a more advanced technology that works over slightly longer distances and with more precision than NFC. Its range is slightly higher and it also supports Passive Entry. In this, you will not even need to take out your phone from your pocket or tap to unlock the car. As soon as you go near the car with the phone, the car will automatically unlock, start as soon as you sit inside and lock as soon as you get out. This is called passive entry.
