A Haryana number plate has been purchased by an unknown person by paying more than Rs 1 crore. The specialty of this number plate is that despite there being an English alphabet in the middle, all the numbers appear to be 8. The bidding for this number started at Rs 50,000, which increased to Rs 1.17 crore.

New Delhi. Most Indians travel only in cars priced below Rs 20-30 lakh. Some ultra rich people buy a car worth Rs 50 lakh or Rs 1 crore. But the person from Haryana spent crores of rupees on the number plate of the car. When the bidding started, only Rs 50,000 was asked for this number plate. A total of 45 people took part in the bidding and the price kept increasing. Finally it stopped at Rs 1.17 crore. The name of who has bought it has not been made public yet.

HR88B8888 is the number which has now become the most expensive car plate in the country. Let us tell you that the auction of the number is completely online. It started on Friday last week and bidding took place till Monday. After this, at 5 pm on Wednesday, it was told how much this plate was sold for. Earlier last week, number plate HR22W2222 was sold for Rs 37.91 lakh.

What is the meaning of the numbers?

HR88B8888 is actually a special VIP vehicle number which people usually buy through auction or by paying premium. Every part of this number has its own meaning and by combining them the complete information is formed.

HR tells that the vehicle is registered in Haryana.
88 is the code of the district or RTO where this vehicle was registered.
B shows the series running in that RTO.
8888 is a unique number specifically chosen by the buyer.

The specialty of this number is that the entire number looks almost like the same pattern. The shape of the capital letter B also sometimes looks like 8 on digital displays, so the entire number looks like a continuous line of eights when viewed from outside. For this reason it is considered a VIP or attractive number.

Where to buy such numbers

Such auctions are conducted on official fancy.parivahan.gov.in. You can bid for a fixed time. If you are successful in placing the highest bid then the plate is given in your name. In this, the name of the buyer is kept confidential to avoid the possibility of any kind of rigging.

Who held the title before this?

Before Haryana, the title of most expensive number plate was held by a person from Kerala. In April this year, Venu Gopalakrishnan had bought the most expensive number plate till then by paying Rs 45.99 lakh. He had bought this number for his Lamborghini Urus. Gopalakrishnan's plate number was KL 07 DG 0007. Bidding for this number started from Rs 25,000. The most special thing about this number is the last 3 digits 0007. It reminds us of James Bond's 007 and makes it attractive among the people.
