For the first time ever, the Lamborghini EV is arriving later than previously told. here's why

The Lamborghini Lanzador Concept EV was unveiled in 2023, but the production version is now arriving a year after the initially announced date.

Lamborghini's all-electric Lanzador is touted as an extremely powerful machine with zero tailpipe emissions.

It has been known for a long time that a Lamborghini electric supercar is coming. But while the Italians had previously confirmed an unveiling in 2028, the company's top boss has now said the showcase has now been pushed back a year. The Lamborghini Lanzador Concept EV version was previously showcased in 2023 and the production version will be based on it.

The first-ever Lamborghini EV or electric vehicle is one of the most anticipated unveilings of the decade and while purists continue to argue against the idea, the march of battery-powered mobility options has included supercars as well. It was never about 'if' but 'when' and when Lamborghini confirmed plans to go electric, there was a lot of excitement in the automotive world about the decision. However according to Reuters, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann has said that unveiling plans have been moved to 2029.

Winkelmann explained that the reason for pushing back the unveiling timeline is to ensure that the market is ready for a Lamborghini EV. He reportedly said, “We don't think 2029 will be too late for electric cars. We don't think, in our segment, the market will be ready in 2025 or 2026.”

Lamborghini is famous for building some of the most powerful sports cars in the world since the 1960s. But when it launched its first SUV, skeptics suspected a change in strategy. But the Lamborghini Urus has been a big hit, propelling the Italian supercar maker to record sales and profits. There is now a Lamborghini Urus Hybrid as well as a Lamborghini Temerario which is powered by a V8 twin-turbo engine with three electric motors. The Lamborghini Revuelto plug-in hybrid has also been a hot favorite since its launch in 2023.

While Lamborghini has underlined its commitment to hybrid technology, there are also plans to go fully electric. And Lanzador is a march towards this ultimate objective.

The Lamborghini Lanzadore Concept showcased last year is a grand tourer with a 2+2 seating arrangement. It has a high-power electric motor on each axle which means it will have permanent all-wheel drive. The EV will feature e-torque vectoring on the rear axle Lamborghini says the maximum power output will be over one megawatt which is around 1,340 bhp. It has also been confirmed that the Lanzador will come with Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) which is essentially a driving dynamics control system. There will be multiple sensors and actuators that will be integrated into the system that ensures precise driving behavior.

In the streets of posh colonies of South Delhi, where luxury cars are a dime a dozen, where even its smaller siblings like the Velar, Sport or Evoque don't always draw a second glance, this gentle giant gets envious glances. Managing the Range Rover within city limits is clearly not easy – it is 5,200 mm long and 2,200 mm wide. But that's like living in a palace and worrying about open spaces. Leave the worries to the property managers or in this case the driver.

But the three-litre straight-six turbocharged petrol motor under the hood does a remarkably good job of giving the Range Rover LWB a confident drive. Around 394 bhp and 550 Nm of torque are on offer and while not being sporty, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in six seconds, which is something to appreciate when it comes to power. However for the most part, that order will not be placed.

Driving the Range Rover Autobiography LWB around Delhi requires a fair amount of adjustment, even if one is more accustomed to driving. Certainly doesn't help bikers trying to get a look. But after the initial phase, the true character of the vehicle begins to become apparent. Linear acceleration, quick gear shifts and a fairly manageable steering all combine to help enhance the feel. Don't just go by mileage. Not with air conditioning anyway.

However the real strength of this machine comes out in the clear and open parts. Once again, it won't zip, zap, or zoom really fast. Instead, the confident progress towards three-digit speeds and beyond is pleasantly reassuring, while the SUV remains firmly planted through it all. Even turns and turns at moderate speeds are negotiated well – which is important considering the height and dimensions of the model.

Range Rover Autobiography: designed for the rich

Driving a Range Rover is an experience but to be honest, it is a vehicle that is tailor-made for commuters. A Meridian sound system with 35 speakers, a dedicated 11.4-inch touchscreen display for rear seat passengers, a high-class air-purification system, durable fabrics on the upholstery – this SUV comes fully loaded. Of course, there are plenty of unique options that can set each unit apart from the others.

But beyond the gadgets and gizmos lies the beauty of simple yet luxurious opulence. Roll up the electronically-controlled blinds and the Range Rover continues to captivate you and your senses in a world that is a stark contrast to the world outside. Even while on the move, this SUV is determined to minimize every bump, every brake and every turn.

At the end of it all, as mentioned, the Range Rover is playing in a league of its own. You get what you pay for and in this case, it is 2.60 crores before taxes. Still not exactly pocket change for the creamy layer, the Range Rover Autobiography offers an experience that few other rivals can.

More than 176 units of the Porsche Taycan electric sedan have been recalled by the German performance carmaker due to a possible defect in the battery cells or modules.

Porsche Taycan EVs manufactured between October 21, 2019 and March 4, 2024 are the potentially affected electric cars that the auto company has recalled. Porsche has discovered that Taycan EVs produced in the above period may have a faulty battery module supplier system. This fault may result in a short circuit within the battery module and may even result in a fire in the electric vehicle following thermal throttling.

Porsche Taycan EV: This is not the first recall

This is not the first time that the Porsche Taycan EV has faced problems. Earlier, in June this year, the carmaker had recalled every single Taycan globally due to possible brake failure. The automaker said the affected Taycan EV will display a warning light on the dashboard. The carmaker did not disclose the exact number of Taycan EVs affected by the recall at the time, but the recall affected more than 150,000 units of the EV worldwide. The automaker said there was an issue related to the front brake hoses, with a small number of Taycan EVs developing cracks that could cause brake fluid to leak, reducing brake pressure and system effectiveness.

The manufacturer says the Nemo is designed for urban roads with lightweight construction and a payload capacity of 150 kg. There are three riding modes on offer – Eco, Sport and Hyper.

The BLDC motor has a capacity of 1500 W and comes with a 3-speed motor controller. The top speed of the electric scooter is 65 km per hour. Wardwizard is offering Nemo in silver and white.

The lithium-ion battery pack is an NMC unit with a smart BMS that helps extend the life and performance of the battery pack. The 72V, 40 Ah battery pack has a claimed range of 130 km on a single charge in Eco riding mode.

Suspension on the Joy Nemo is handled by telescopic forks at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is done by hydraulic discs at both ends and there is also a combi-braking system.

The manufacturer says that the running cost of the electric scooter is as low as 17 paise per km. The scooter comes with a projector headlamp with an LED unit and a 5-inch full-colour TFT display. Smart CAN-enabled battery systems integrate with mobile apps (Android and iOS) for remote monitoring, real-time tracking, and cloud-connected insights. There is also a USB port for charging mobile devices and a reverse assist to help the rider move the scooter out of the parking spot.

Mega global survey reveals 92% of EV owners will not switch to the engine again. What about India?

More than 23,000 EV owners across 18 countries were surveyed and the majority in India acknowledged range-related concerns.

The rise and proliferation of electric vehicles (EVs) is inevitable and the popularity of such models is partly being driven by existing owners who are unwilling to go back to conventional vehicles powered mostly by engines. This is the conclusion of a global survey covering nearly 23,000 EV owners in 18 countries, including India.

Titled the Global EV Driver Survey 2024 and conducted by a grassroots non-profit network of 64 national electric vehicle driver associations called the Global EV Alliance, the survey found that 97 percent of respondents said they were 'very satisfied' with their EV . When asked if they would have to replace their existing EV one day, 92 percent said they would do so with another EV and four percent said it would be a plug-in hybrid. Only one percent said their next car would be a petrol or diesel-powered model.

Why buy an EV?

The survey also focused on the driving factors that motivated respondents to make their purchases. A large majority said that the low operating costs of EVs were a major reason for purchasing an EV, while a large number also highlighted that such vehicles are better for the environment. Other factors mentioned were interest in the new technology and the incentives offered.

Where do you charge your EV?

E.V — Home-charging solutions remain the best option for EV owners across the world.

When asked what is the primary location for charging an EV, 72 percent of those surveyed said they use their home-charging point. Another 13 percent said they use fast chargers while seven percent said they use public parking spaces with charging options. Another seven percent said they use charging points at their work places.

What are the biggest problems with EVs?

The survey also focused on the real-time challenges of owning and driving an EV. While most said they don't see any real challenges, issues like poor coverage of fast-charging points and slow charging times were still highlighted by many others. Many people also cited range and poor charger.

Among respondents across all 18 countries, the number of people acknowledging range-related concerns was highest in India, followed by Brazil, Costa Rica and Portugal. People in Germany and Switzerland were least concerned about range.

The survey covered EV owners in: Austria, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The 2025 Toyota Camry has recently been launched in India with a new design and many new features. While the global-spec 2025 Camry is available in four different trims, the Indian market will get only one variant, which is priced at 48 lakh (ex-showroom). There are six color options available and the car rides on newly designed 18-inch dual-tone alloys. The color options are: Cement Grey, Attitude Black, Dark Blue, Emotional Red, Platinum White Pearl and Precious Metal. The cabin is offered with dual-tone yellow-brown soft leather upholstery with a piano black center console.

The Superb is also offered in one variant and comes with three exterior color options, priced at Rs 54 lakh (ex-showroom). Color options include new Rosso Brunello and Water World Green colours. The third color option is Magic Black which was offered with the sedan before it was phased out from our shores. The Czech sedan is offered with cognac perforated leather upholstery with high contrast stitching. A piano black decoration with the Laurin & Clement logo is offered as an optional add-on.

Toyota Camry vs Skoda Superb: Exterior Design

The new generation Camry is completely different from the existing model in India and it gets a new front-end design. The mid-size sedan comes with a wide front grille and sharp headlamps, while the rear takes inspiration from the current generation Lexus sedan. The integrated LED DRLs come with sleek headlamps, while the large radiator grille gives the sedan a bold look.

In terms of design, the latest Skoda Superb is not much different from the last one sold in India. It comes with the usual Skoda grille with washers on the sides and full LED headlights. LED fog lights have been installed on the bumper. On the sides of the Superb, there are 18-inch Propass Aero alloy wheels. The LED taillights come with dynamic turn indicators. The sedan also has Laurin & Clément inscription on the front fender.

Toyota Camry vs Skoda Superb: Technical Features

The Toyota Camry includes a wide range of features, including two 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment and instrument cluster. The first enables wireless communication through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and includes connected car features. The sedan features a brand new pale brown soft leather interior. The front seats are 10-way power adjustable, and the driver has a memory function. The 2025 Camry also includes a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charging pad, a 9-speaker JBL audio system and three-zone climate control with rear AC vents.

Skoda has also revised the feature list for the new Superb. It includes a new 10.2-inch digital driver display and a 9.1-inch touchscreen infotainment panel that supports wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The car also comes with wireless charging, tri-zone climate control and more. The cabin is fitted with perforated Cognac leather, with a Piano Black design option available. The front seats can be electronically adjusted 12 different ways, and the driver's seat includes massage and memory functionalities. The driver gets a two-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters.

Toyota Camry vs Skoda Superb: Engine and performance

The 2025 Toyota Camry is powered solely by a 2.5-litre inline-four petrol-hybrid engine with a combined maximum output of 226.8 bhp and 221 Nm of torque. Power is delivered to the front wheels via an e-CVT with 10-speed sequential shift mode for a manual driving experience. In global markets, the Camry is offered with all-wheel drive, with on-demand torque distribution between the front and rear wheels.

The Skoda Superb comes in its Laurin & Klement variant, powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TSI petrol engine that meets India's current pollution standards. The unit is mated to a seven-speed DCT transmission. This engine is capable of producing 187 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque.

Toyota Camry vs Skoda Superb: Safety Features

The 2025 Toyota Camry comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), the automaker's in-house ADAS suite that includes lane-keeping assist, lane departure alert, a pre-collision system, dynamic radar cruise control, and automatic high beams. The vehicle also features nine airbags, a 360-degree panoramic rear-view monitor, ABS with EBD and braking assist and ISOFIX mounts at the rear. It includes vehicle stability and traction control systems, as well as TPM, hill start assist control with up/down assist, and an engine immobilizer.

The Skoda Superb will be one of the carmaker's safest models in India. While the Slavia and Kushaq received five-star safety ratings in the Global NCAP crash tests, the Superb received an equally high rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests. The sub-four meter compact sedan segment in the Indian passenger vehicle market has been witnessing declining sales numbers and declining market share over the past few years due to the steady rise in demand for SUVs and crossovers. However, despite consumers' declining interest in the segment, the sub-compact sedan segment suddenly became the talk of the town again with the launch of two new generation models. While Maruti Suzuki launched the fourth generation Maruti Suzuki Dezire, Honda Cars India launched the third generation Honda Amaze.

The new generation Honda Amaze has been completely redesigned with changes to the exterior and interior. The sedan now looks similar to its bigger sibling, the Honda City sedan. The ADAS suite on the new Honda Amaze includes features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and collision mitigation system.

8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system

Both the third-generation Honda Amaze and Honda City are offered with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The second generation Honda Amaze was equipped with a small 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, but with the new generation model, the sedan gets a larger display.

7.0-inch semi-digital instrument cluster

The previous generation Honda Amaze had analog dials with a multi-info display in its instrument cluster. However, the new generation Honda Amaze gets a 7.0-inch semi-digital instrument cluster. This is the same unit that is also offered in the Honda City, which provides additional vehicle information along with customization.

The 2024 Honda Amaze gets a wireless phone charger, which, along with a USB port, provides additional convenience to the occupants. Both the Honda City and the new Honda Amaze have additional 12V power sockets in the front and rear seat rows.

VW, unions hold 'constructive' talks, but no solution in sight

“After today's round it is clear that we are still far from a solution,” Volkswagen's chief negotiator Arne Mieswinkel said after more than seven hours of talks.

But Labor representative Thorsten Groeger said it was the first time that talks had taken place in a “constructive environment” and that they were ready to return to the negotiating table on 16 December.

Earlier in the day, Groeger said that unless Monday's talks take an amicable approach, unions see no more room for negotiations this year and that they will escalate the strike to unprecedented levels in 2025.

Still, unions remained adamant in saying they would refuse to close the plant, while the carmaker said it could not be ruled out, showing that the two parties are still far apart.

VW employees shut down equipment on Monday at nine German sites that are at risk, while thousands of workers marched waving flags and blowing whistles at a intersection in Wolfsburg, where the carmaker is headquartered, to hear union leaders .

The latest talks, which initially began in September, come as Europe's biggest carmaker looks for ways to drastically cut costs in Germany to better compete with cheaper Asian rivals that have entered its home market. Is searching.

The VW crisis comes at a time of uncertainty and political turmoil in Europe's largest economy, as well as widespread turmoil among the region's automakers. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who is trailing in the polls ahead of the snap election, warned VW to close factories over the weekend.

MG Windsor becomes the best selling EV for the second time in a row

The Windsor EV is the third all-electric offering from JSW MG Motor India after the ZS EV and Comet EV.

JSW MG Motor India has announced that they have sold 3,144 units of the Windsor in the month of November 2024. This makes Windsor the best-selling EV for the second consecutive time. JSW MG Motor India reported 20 per cent year-on-year growth in sales at 6,019 units in November 2024 compared to November 2023. The company's NEV portfolio contributed 70 percent of total sales. It is important to note that sales figures are wholesale numbers. MG currently has three electric vehicles in its portfolio. There are Comet EV, ZS EV and Windsor EV.

Currently, the largest EV player in the Indian market is Tata Motors which has the largest lineup of electric vehicles. The brand sold 5,202 units of electric vehicles in November 2024, which is a 9 percent increase from 4,761 units sold by the manufacturer in November 2023. Tata Motors currently sells Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV and Curve EV. The manufacturer is currently working on three more electric vehicles – Safari EV, Harrier EV and Sierra EV.

Interestingly, MG despite having a smaller portfolio than Tata Motors managed to report wholesale sales numbers which are higher than Tata Motors.

What is the battery size of Windsor EV?

JSW MG Motor India is using a 38 kWh battery pack which claims a driving range of 332 km. In real world driving range should be around 260 to 280 km. The battery pack can be charged in 55 minutes using a DC fast charger.

Ola Electric expands reach in India, adds over 3,000 touchpoints in a single day

Ola Electric is planning to expand aggressively across India amid allegations of poor after-sales servicing. India's largest electric two-wheeler maker has announced that it will expand its sales and service touchpoints to 4,000 centers across the country on December 20. The EV maker currently has around 800 stores selling electric scooters like Ola S1 Pro, S1 Air and S1X. among others. Some of these stores also provide servicing facilities.

Ola Electric founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal took to social media this month to reveal the EV maker's expansion plans. He said during an event that Ola will add around 3,200 showrooms across India on December 2. “The goal is to stay as close to our customers as possible. Ola Electric's expansion move assumes significance amid the recent controversy over the EV maker's sales and service record. The EV maker is currently being investigated by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) over alleged complaints from over 10,600 customers.

Ola Electric plans to address customer concerns

The biggest highlight of Ola Electric's latest expansion plan is the inclusion of service networks. To help customers deal with issues with their electric scooters, Ola will provide service support across all new showrooms. “All stores also have service capabilities,” Aggarwal said, pointing to Ola's eagerness to address customer concerns over the lack of service support by the EV maker.

Earlier, Ola Electric had revealed plans to improve its after-sales service and service. Mahindra XEV 9e is the carmaker's first model under the 'XEV' brand. The entry level variant Pack One of XEV 9e has been priced at Rs 21.

Mahindra Launched at ₹21.90 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory), the XEV 9e can challenge even some luxury cars with its offers.

Mahindra stepped up its electric vehicle game with the launch of the XEV 9e and BE 6e. While the BE 6e is the sportier of the two, the Mahindra XEV 9e is the domestic carmaker's flagship EV and has a starting price of 21.90 lakh. Sales of the XEV 9e will begin in January 2025, with deliveries expected to begin between late February and early March.

Mahindra recently unveiled the color options that will be available with the XEV 9e. Like the BE 6e, the Mahindra XEV 9e also gets a few color options. These color options are on the cool side which gives a premium feel to the coupe SUV. Like the BE 6E, the Mahindra XEV 9e also gets eight color options which include Desert Mist, Everest White, Tango Red, Stealth Black, Nebula Blue, Deep Forest, Ruby Velvet and Gold Dawn. Interestingly, unlike the BE 6e, the XEV 9e does not get any satin color option.

Mahindra XEV 9e: Design

The Mahindra XEV 9e features a coupe SUV design with triangular inverted 'L' LED headlamps and LED daytime running lights (DRL) spanning the width of the vehicle. It comes with a coupe-like roofline and slim LED taillights at the rear. The exterior design features strong character lines and an illuminated logo.

The XEV 9e measures 4,790 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width and 1,690 mm in height, so it is 4,695 mm longer than the XUV700. The 2,775 mm wheelbase is also longer than that of the XUV 700 by 2,750 mm. Mahindra says the XEV 9e has a maximum ground clearance of 207 mm and a huge 665-litre boot. A 150-litre frunk is also provided.

Mahindra XEV 9e: Features

On the inside, the Mahindra XEV 9e features a triple-screen setup that occupies a large portion of the dashboard. It consists of three 12.3-inch screens powered by Mahindra's Adrenox software, where the touchscreen infotainment system and driver's display are seamlessly integrated.

An illuminated logo adorns the twin-spoke multifunction steering wheel of this SUV. Additional features include a wireless smartphone charger, a 16-speaker audio system, a panoramic sunroof, automatic parking assist and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suite.

Mahindra XEV 9e: Powertrain and battery

While the set of features and design differ between the BE 6e and XEV 9e, the powertrain is the same between the two. The Mahindra INGLO architecture supports two different battery pack options, which are 59 kWh and 79 kWh units. These are Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery packs. Like the BE 6e, the XEV 9e will also initially be available with a 59 kWh battery pack. Mahindra claims that the XEV 9e can charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 20 minutes using a 175 kW DC fast charger. The 59 kWh battery pack has a range of 542 km, while the 79 kWh battery pack is claimed to offer a range of 656 km as tested by ARAI.

The smaller battery pack is rated to generate 228 bhp while the larger 79 kWh battery pack version produces 278 bhp. The torque output remains the same at 380 Nm across both the battery pack options.

Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard said during a news conference with President Claudia Sheinbaum on Wednesday that Trump's pledge to impose 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada would cost the US 400,000 jobs.

A veteran of confrontational North American trade negotiations during Trump's first administration, Ebrard gave a presentation on how a new round of levies would affect Mexico-US relations.

Mexico is beefing up its defenses against Trump's new tariff threats, Sheinbaum said, uniting a group of national businessmen at his daily press briefing. The government also plans to extend its trade agreement with the European Union and improve its commercial ties with Brazil, officials said.

On Tuesday, Sheinbaum suggested that Mexico could respond to the threat of tariffs with tariffs of its own, warning that the economic consequences would be severe. “The response to one tariff will be followed by another, and so on until we no longer put ordinary companies at risk,” the president said in his first response to Trump's threats.

The US president-elect is vowing to impose 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico until fentanyl and undocumented migrants stop flowing to US borders. Canada says it has plans to boost border security — and points to U.S. government data showing most of the problems come from Mexico.

Sheinbaum said Canada also needs Mexico and is confident the northern country will remain in the North American trade agreement that will be reviewed in 2026. He also said his government is in touch with Trump's transition team.

Mexico has become the US's largest trading partner, with the Mexican government estimating that trade between the neighbors now totals $800 billion annually.

Ebrard underlined the importance of improving trade relations between the US, Mexico and Canada, saying they were worth $1.8 trillion between January and September, and generate 30% of the world's GDP.

“If tariffs are imposed and we enter the process of increasing tariffs, who is going to be affected? All three countries,” Sheinbaum said. “We don't compete with each other, we complement each other.”

8 carmakers including Mahindra, Hyundai may face emissions penalties: Report

This report has come at a time when the northern part of India, especially Delhi and its surrounding areas, is in the grip of severe pollution and the AQI level is in the severe to severe plus category. Authorities have imposed restrictions on vehicular movement to curb pollution, including banning BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel cars on the roads until further notice. CAFE Criteria Emissions Fines: Who Pays How Much?

According to the report, three major carmakers Hyundai, Mahindra and Kia may have to pay a major share of the emission penalty. 7,300 crores. CAFE norms emission penalty: Car makers object

Neither carmaker has released any official statement regarding the emissions penalties they may face. Car manufacturers have urged the Center that it would be inappropriate to reconsider imposing the new CAFE norms on vehicles manufactured throughout the financial year. The new CAFE norms, set by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency under the Union Power Ministry, were introduced in 2022 but were implemented from January last year. The Center has not yet released the CAFE norms report for FY 2022-23 and discussions are underway among stakeholders to get more clarity on the objections raised by carmakers.

What are CAFE criteria?

The report said eight carmakers, including Skoda, Renault, Nissan Motor and Force Motors, failed to comply with CAFE norms in the last financial year. CAFE norms, which were first introduced in India in 2017, are a set of rules that limit the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by a carmaker's fleet in a financial year. The rules were revised in 2022 with stricter norms. It states that all fleets should not consume more than 4.78 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers and carbon dioxide emissions should not exceed 113 grams per kilometer.
