Effect of Tesla's entry in India! World's number 1 EV company will set up plant in Pakistan

New Delhi. Chinese electric vehicle company byd is preparing to set up an assembly plant in Pakistan. The company is going to start local production in mid -2026. According to a report by Reuters, the company is planning to launch a local assembled electric vehicles, which will meet the growing demand and will be available on aggressive pricing keeping in mind the competition.

Plant will be held in Karachi
Byd has entered the Pakistan market in partnership with the Mega Motor Company, a subsidiary of Pakistani utility hub power. Byd is planning to meet the growing demand of EVS in Pakistan and other emerging markets. The Chinese EV manufacturer will prepare his plant near Karachi in April.

Construction started in 2025

Talking to Reuters, Danish Khalik, vice -president of Byd Pakistan's Sales and Statiji, confirmed that the construction work of the assembly plant started in April 2025 and its annual capacity would be 25,000 units. These are the initial figures, and Khalik did not say when the mass production will start or what the total capacity of the plant will be.

Export in countries with right hand drive
Khalik clarified that the BYD plant is an assembling unit, and the company will first focus on the Pakistan market and then will increase its footprint in the rest of the right hand drive countries. Byd started importing EVS in Pakistan in March this year and aiming to take 30% to 35% of the market share. Currently, the company is selling two EVs – Seal and Etto

Price in Pakistani rupee
EV sedans, seals, are available in two trims – dynamic and premium – and it is priced at Rs 14,790,000 (Pakistan), which is about 45 lakhs in Indian rupees. On the other hand, Eto 3 comes in a variant – Advance – and is priced at Rs 8,990,000 (Pakistan), which is about 27 lakhs in Indian rupees. Byd will soon launch EV pickup trucks, sharks, in the Pakistani market.
