Hyundai Creta will face tough competition from new SUVs like Tata Sierra, Maruti e Vitara, Kia Seltos, Renault Duster, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Honda Elevate Hybrid. Currently, Creta is counted among the most successful SUV cars of India. At present, it faces tough competition only from Nexon. But in the coming time, many new models will be launched in the Indian market and will present a strong challenge to Creta.

The road ahead looks challenging for Hyundai Creta as several new models are set to enter the market and challenge its long-standing dominance. Here is a list of top 8 midsize SUVs coming by 2026, which includes new models, electric and hybrid options and facelifts. Let's take a look.

Tata Sierra, scheduled to be launched on 25th November 2025, will emerge as one of the strongest rivals to the Hyundai Creta. Initially, the SUV will be offered with three ICE engine options – 1.5L Naturally Aspirated Petrol, 1.5L Turbo Petrol and 1.5L Turbo Diesel. An electric version will join the lineup in early 2026. The powertrain of the Sierra EV is likely to be shared with the Harrier EV.

Maruti e Vitara will go on sale on 2 December 2025. Based on the Heartect-e skateboard platform, the electric SUV will come with 49kWh and 61kWh battery pack options. The smaller battery pack will produce 144bhp with a single motor, while the larger battery pack will produce 174bhp and 184bhp respectively with single and dual motor, AWD setups. The e Vitara will promise a driving range of over 500 km per charge.

The world premiere of the next generation Kia Seltos will take place on December 10, 2025. Its India launch is expected to happen in early 2026. The SUV is expected to adopt Kia's latest design language and offer features like a large 12.3-inch display. One major upgrade will come in the form of a hybrid powertrain, which will be introduced in India in 2027. Till then, the 2026 Kia Seltos will remain available with the existing engine setup.

The third generation Renault Duster will make its India debut on January 26, 2026, with its launch soon after. The Honda Elevate Hybrid is reported to hit Indian roads in the second half of 2026, possibly around Diwali. This will be Honda's first hybrid SUV in India. The Elevate Hybrid is expected to share the powertrain of the City e:HEV hybrid sedan. Currently, the midsize SUV is available with a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine.

The new Nissan Tekton will basically be a rebadged version of the new Renault Duster, with Nissan's design language. The SUV will share its platform, features, components and engine with Duster. This means that it can also be available with 1.3L petrol or 1.2L mild hybrid petrol engine options.
