In the era of SUVs, the magic of this sedan is speaking to people's minds! Even German and Korean brands defeated

New Delhi. However, the sedan segment is facing challenges because the demand for compact SUV cars is increasing rapidly in the country. In such a situation, the demand for sedan and hatchback models has reduced significantly. But in such a situation, a car is continuously registering excellent sales in the market and has been successful in winning the hearts of the customers. It is none other than Maruti Suzuki Dezire, which has emerged as the best-selling car in India in the calendar year 2025 (CY25) from January to September.

Country's second best selling car

In September, the Dezire was the second best-selling car in the country with 20,038 units sold, behind only Tata Motors' Nexon SUV, which achieved its highest monthly sales of 22,573 units. So far in CY25, Dezire leads all cars in terms of sales with a total of 1,53,543 units. After this, Hyundai Motor India's Creta SUV is with 1,52,243 units.

Giving competition to foreign brands

But when other sedans like Hyundai Aura, Hyundai Verna, Honda Amaze, Honda City, Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus are underperforming, why is the Dzire so popular? According to industry experts, Dezire is liked by buyers due to its practicality, reliability, mileage and low maintenance cost.

5 star safety

In GST 2.0, the price of Dezire got cut by up to Rs 87,700. Now its price ranges between Rs 6.26 lakh to Rs 9.31 lakh (ex-showroom). You can get the top-spec variant of the sedan at an on-road price of around Rs 10.50 lakh. Hill hold assist included. Built on Maruti's lightweight Heartect platform, the Dzire has achieved a 5-star safety rating in India NCAP.
