New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki maintained its unmatched leadership in calendar year 2025 – with sales of 18,33,748 units by the end of the year. The brand continued to dominate month after month, driven by its large portfolio, which ranges from entry-level hatchbacks to high volume SUVs. Demand for 2.50 lakh units during the festive season in October and consistently good monthly sales kept Maruti Suzuki well ahead of its rivals. Telangana contributed around 49,000 units – further boosting the company's overall figures as per vehicle registration data. The Indo-Japanese manufacturer launched the Victoris midsize SUV a few months ago, which has received a good response from customers. The SUV range will soon get further expansion with the arrival of Brezza facelift and e Vitara.
Mahindra at number 2
Mahindra & Mahindra secured second position with 6,07,447 units in the last calendar year. The company, which focuses on SUVs, benefited from the continued demand for models like Scorpio, Bolero, XUV 700, XUV 3XO and Thar, which saw a significant jump in sales due to festive shopping in October and November. Sales of all top brands increased in the second half of the year due to GST 2.0 tax exemption.
tata number 3
Price cuts in the compact segment encouraged buyers to buy new vehicles. Tata Motors took a very close third place with sales of 5,91,702 units. Its SUV lineup, which includes top volume drivers like Nexon and Punch, and continued good sales of electric vehicles boosted the overall figures.
Hyundai slipped to number 4
October was the strongest month with sales of more than 80,000 units, reflecting festival demand and better supply. Hyundai Motor India made the top four with 5,75,570 units between January and December 2025. The Korean brand has consistently recorded good sales throughout the year, with Creta and Venue playing a key role, with the Venue recently receiving a new generation.
