Buy your favorite car in Diwali but don't be cheated, know which variant is worth the money, keep these 5 things in mind

New Delhi. Buying a new car is considered auspicious during the festive season, and if you are planning to buy a car on this occasion, it is important to keep some important things in mind. Here we are telling you 5 important tips to choose a 'value for money' car, which will help you in buying the right and affordable car.

1. First decide the budget
According to Pankaj Mathpal, personal finance expert and CEO of Optima Money Managers, the cost of a car should not exceed 50% of your annual income. For example, if your annual income is Rs 10 lakh, you should consider a car up to Rs 5 lakh. This ensures that you take a right decision as per your financial situation.

2. Choose models with only essential features
Many times car companies add such features in expensive variants, which you do not need. This increases the price of the car, but it does not prove to be 'value for money'. Therefore, it is better to choose the features as per your requirement.

3. Avoid dealership accessories
When buying a car, the accessories available from the dealership can be expensive. By purchasing them from outside, you can get a cheaper option and money will also be saved. Therefore, consider buying accessories from the market instead of the dealership.

4. Check After Sales Service
Before buying a car, it is important to pay attention to the after sales service of that brand. Car service is required from time to time and if the service of the company or dealership is not good then you may have to spend more on maintenance. Therefore, investigate this aspect thoroughly.

5. Pay attention to insurance
According to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, it is necessary to have car insurance. Driving a car without insurance is not only illegal, but there is also a risk of fine or the car being confiscated. Additionally, considering the increasing number of accidents on the roads, a proper insurance policy is also essential for your safety. Many companies offer attractive policies, so choose the best policy by comparing all the options.

Keeping these 5 important aspects in mind, you can choose the right 'value for money' car as per your budget.

Big preparations for the festive season! More than 20 cars will be launched in the next 3 months, the market will be flooded with SUVs

New Delhi. If you are planning to buy a new car, then this festive season is going to be very special for you. More than 20 new cars are going to be launched in the Indian market in the coming 3 months. New cars will be launched from Navratri to Christmas and will be introduced with updated models and features. According to the information, in this festive season, companies are ready to spend Rs 20 lakh crore in the auto industry. The price of the cars to be launched will be between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 2.25 crore.

Looking at the demand of the customers, the auto companies are focusing on the launch of SUVs and 7 seater vehicles. Mercedes, Kia and Volkswagen are bringing premium SUVs. 80% of these cars are from the SUV-MPV segment.

The trend of SUVs is getting stronger
Car buyers are always attracted to new features. This makes the customer decide to buy a car. Car manufacturers launch new cars taking advantage of this mindset of the customer. Currently, a strong trend of SUVs is being seen. Keeping this trend in mind, companies are also preparing to attract rich customers. The market is full of SUVs as compared to hatchbacks of the same size. Customers are liking cars with airbags, sunroof, infotainment and comfortable features more. It is expected that dealers will receive attractive bookings for cars before the festive season.

12% more discount than last year
Currently, car dealers have an inventory of about 75 days, which should normally be 30-45 days. Dealers have 7.8 lakh cars worth Rs 80 thousand crores ready to be sold. The cost of maintaining these cars in the showroom is increasing. If these cars are parked for a long time, the margin will reduce to 1%. Therefore, dealers are selling these cars by giving huge discounts.

According to global automotive and intelligence firm JATO Dynamics, the average discount of vehicle companies is 12% higher this year compared to last year. There is a discount of Rs 20 thousand to Rs 3.25 lakh on vehicles. In 2023, it was Rs 25 lakh to Rs 1 lakh, which was 40-45% higher than 2022. According to the data, the average discount on vehicles right now is Rs 38,816, which was Rs 34,630 in 2023.

Modern car interiors are increasingly becoming more digitalised and smart, connected feature-packed, essentially becoming an extension of the consumers’ living room.

A decade ago, visitors to an auto show would have seen cars with dashboards loaded with dials, knobs and mechanical buttons. Interactive engagement between the occupants and the car’s onboard system was still a futuristic idea. However, a decade later, the situation has gone through a massive evolution. Human-machine interfaces (HMI) are now taking over the car interiors with the auto OEMs implementing smart digital interfaces built on advanced technology platforms. This gradual and drastic transformation from mechanical to electronic HMI controls promises to revolutionize the driving experience of drivers and vehicle users.

The mechanical interfaces in passenger vehicles are increasingly being replaced by voice controls, touch-sensitive panels, digital surfaces, wireless communications etc. With the advent of advanced technology-aided features that are focused on the convenience and comfort of the driver as well as driving safety, technologies such as windshields being used as heads-up displays, showing traffic updates, weather reports and other information may become a reality shortly. Overall, the HMI capabilities in modern cars are growing increasingly sophisticated, propelling massive growth in the segment of the in-car electronics market.

A living room on wheels

Modern consumers are engrossed with the convenience of smart devices and the internet of things, which have become ubiquitous. While the consumers enjoy the convenience and advantage of such devices, they expect the same experience in their cars. OEMs too are increasingly focusing on providing the same to their car buyers. This is a key reason behind the rapid growth of connected cars and so many in-car features.

In an attempt to meet the market and consumer expectations as well as to remain competitive, car manufacturers have started connecting cars to the internet and providing smart user interfaces in these vehicles like those available on consumers’ smart devices, in their homes and at work. This strategy ensures seamless connectivity across the consumers’ devices irrespective of the place. In a nutshell, a car interior is increasingly becoming an extension of a vehicle owner’s living room or office.

The rapid growth of capacitive user interfaces including touchscreen that can be customised for various functions like infotainment, navigation and comfort settings, instead of the traditional mechanical knobs and buttons simply testify to this shift of consumer focus.

Flexibility of design

The growth of use in capacitive user interfaces has brought a revolution in car interior design as well, ensuring maximum physical comfort through ergonomic layout. This strategy is resulting in the contemporary cars’ interiors becoming sleek with cutting-edge aesthetics, even in the lower price categories.

The use of digitalized and sleeker HMI is maximising not only physical comfort for the vehicle occupants but offering greater design flexibility to the manufacturers as well. Modern cars are increasingly focusing on spacious interiors to ensure better creature comfort, while at the same time offering enriched experiences with features such as wireless communication, superior lighting and sound systems, internet or cloud connectivity etc.
