These 7 seater cars sold the most in August, Maruti Ertiga again became number 1

New Delhi. August 2025 was not a good month for the Indian automotive industry, with a total of 3,27,719 units sold, compared to 3,54,273 units in the same month last year. This decline was mainly due to changes in GST and heavy rains in many states. All major car manufacturers saw negative growth, while Toyota, MG and Skoda recorded an annual cell growth of 2.5%, 43.9% and 79.3% respectively.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
In the 7-seater family car segment, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga emerged as a clear winner with a sales of 18,445 units, slightly lower than the 18,580 units sold in August 2024. Despite the slight decline, this MPV not only topped its segment, but also became India's best -selling car in August 2025.

Update Ertiga Model Lineup

Recently, the car manufacturer has updated the Ertiga model lineup, including blower speed control with dedicated vents for third roots, 2 Type-C USB ports, new AC vents and redesigned rear roof spiilers for the second and third roat seats. After the GST reform, the prices of Maruti Ertiga have fallen by Rs 47,000, and now its price starts at Rs 8.80 lakh.

Mahindra scorpio
With the sale of 9,840 units, Mahindra Scorpio finished second in India's 7-seater family cars. However, its annual cell fell by 29 percent. Toyota Innova finished third with a sales of 9,304 units, compared to 9,687 units in the same month last year.

Mahindra Bolero and XUV700

Mahindra Bolero and XUV700 finished fourth and sixth with the sale of 8,109 units and 4,956 units respectively. While Bolero saw a significant annual decline of 25%, the XUV 700 saw a rapid decline of 45%. Kia Carence (which includes the new Carerance Clvis and Carerance Clavis EV) registered a monthly sale of 6,822 units in August 2025, compared to 5,881 units in the same month last year. It was the fifth best-selling 7-seater with a huge annual growth of 16%.

These cars also included in the top 10
Maruti XL6, Toyota Fortuner and Reno Tribe finished seventh, eighth and ninth with sales of 2,973 units, 2,508 units and 1,870 units respectively. Finally, Tata Safari finished tenth with sales of 1,489 units, although it fell by 24% annually.
