Demand for 2.50 lakh units during the festive season in October and consistently good monthly sales kept Maruti Suzuki well ahead of its rivals. Telangana contributed around 49,000 units – further boosting the company's overall figures as per vehicle registration data. The Indo-Japanese manufacturer launched the Victoris midsize SUV a few months ago, which has received a good response from customers. Mahindra & Mahindra secured second position with 6,07,447 units in the last calendar year. The company, which focuses on SUVs, benefited from the continued demand for models like Scorpio, Bolero, XUV 700, XUV 3XO and Thar, which saw a significant jump in sales due to festive shopping in October and November. Sales of all top brands increased in the second half of the year due to GST 2.0 tax exemption.
