This SUV will dominate in 2025, 23 units sold every hour, bought by lakhs of customers throughout the year

New Delhi. Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has set a new record in the mid-size SUV segment. The company's Creta SUV has achieved the highest annual sales of 2,00,000 units so far in the calendar year 2025. This means that on an average 550 Cretas are being sold every day, i.e. approximately 23 units every hour. Along with this, this SUV remains India's best-selling SUV from 2020 to 2025 with more than 34 percent market share.

10 years since launch
Celebrating ten years of its launch, Creta has registered a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of more than 9 percent between 2016 and 2025, while many new companies also entered the market during this period. This includes Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Skoda Kushaq and other models. In the coming times, competition is going to become even tougher with the launch of vehicles like Renault Duster.

changing preferences of customers
According to information released by the South Korean automaker, there has been a change in customer preferences. While the number of first-time car buyers was 13 percent in 2020, it has increased to 32 percent in 2025. At the same time, the sales of variants with sunroof are more than 70 percent of the total sales. The contribution of diesel powertrain was 44 percent.

Biggest Annual Sale
Commenting on the achievement, HMIL Managing Director and CEO Designate Tarun Garg said, “Hyundai Creta has had an extraordinary journey in India and achieving the highest ever annual sales of over 2 lakh units is a moment of pride and recognition for all of us.” Describing Creta as a “trusted companion on every journey”, he attributed its success to customers and dealers.

Why is Creta popular?
A major reason for the popularity of Creta is its many options. Customers can choose from different engine options, transmission types and even electric models. This flexibility gives buyers the opportunity to choose a vehicle as per their needs, rather than changing their needs depending on the vehicle.

Engine, Performance, Range
Creta comes with three engine options: naturally aspirated petrol, turbo petrol and diesel. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard with naturally aspirated petrol and diesel engines. For automatic lovers, there is the option of IVT in petrol engines and torque converter automatic in diesel. At the same time, the turbo petrol engine is available only with dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Creta Electric comes with two battery pack options: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh, with a claimed range of 420 km and 510 km respectively.

New Delhi. Hyundai India has achieved a big position as a car manufacturing brand in India. There are many great cars in the company's portfolio. But there is one special car, which was launched 10 years ago and is still the company's bestseller. Creta has completed 10 years in India. Creta, which came as an ambitious debutant in the Indian mid-size SUV market in 2015, has now become a resounding success story. Over the last ten years, Creta has not only redefined customer expectations but has also consistently stayed ahead of the competition, making it one of the most popular SUVs in India.

Top seller for a decade
Hyundai Creta, a top-seller since its inception, entered India in 2015 with a strong design, luxurious cabin and Hyundai's trusted brand values. At that time there were only three big players in this segment. But by 2025, this segment has increased to 14 contenders, yet Creta maintains its leadership in the market. The most important thing is that despite the fierce competition, Creta has maintained the top position in its segment every year since 2016. Its annual sales have more than doubled in the last nine years, which shows its popularity among customers.

2 generation update in 10 years
2 Generation In the last decade, Hyundai has introduced two generations of Creta. The first generation came in 2015, which laid its foundation. The second generation came in 2020, in which major changes in design and more connected features were given. A mid-cycle update in early 2024 adds sharper styling, Level 2 ADAS, panoramic screens and more drivetrain options.

Two special editions also launched
Night Edition (2022): Which was given blacked-out styling and sporty look. Adventure Edition (2023): In which rugged cosmetic changes and exclusive colors were given. Sunroof helped win hearts An interesting thing about customer preferences is that 70% of Creta units sold in the first half of 2025 came with a sunroof. More than 12 lakh units sold in India By July 2025, Hyundai has sold more than 12 lakh units of Creta in India. It has become a trusted name among urban and semi-urban families. Balanced driving dynamics, class-leading features and strong after-sales network have helped Hyundai win the hearts of people.

Export to 13 countries
2.87 Lakh Creta exported from India has been successful not only in the domestic market but also at the international level. Hyundai has exported about 2.87 lakh Creta units from India to more than 13 countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia. This is an important part of Hyundai India's export strategy and reflects India's growing role in global automotive manufacturing. As Hyundai celebrates this 10-year journey, the company's commitment to the Creta brand has become stronger. Amid changing customer needs, strict regulations and increasing competition, Hyundai is expected to keep updating the Creta with more features, powertrain options and new technology. Currently, the 10-year journey of Hyundai Creta is an example of maintaining leadership in India's highly competitive SUV segment.
