Maruti e Vitara Launch Date: Maruti Suzuki will soon launch e Vitara electric SUV in India, which will be available on Nexa network. It has BYD battery, 543 km range, Level 2 ADAS and five star rating in Bharat NCAP. In India, it will compete with MG Windsor and Tata Nexon EV which are currently the bestselling electric cars in India.

Maruti Suzuki is going to enter the electric SUV segment in India with its new electric SUV e Vitara. This midsize electric SUV will be sold only through the Nexa retail network. It will compete with Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra XEV 9e, MG ZS EV, Tata Curve EV and other vehicles in the country's fastest growing EV segment. Its starting price is expected to be a little more than Rs 17 lakh ex-showroom.

Interestingly, the journey of e Vitara has started even before its domestic launch. It is being produced on a large scale at Maruti Suzuki's Gujarat plant and the units manufactured here are being exported to many foreign markets.

Along with product development, the company has also prepared its long-term EV ecosystem strategy, in which it has promised to install more than one lakh public charging points across the country by the end of this decade.

e Vitara is built on Maruti's special Heartect-e skateboard platform. Its length is 4,275 mm, width is 1,800 mm and height is about 1,640 mm, while the wheelbase is 2,700 mm. Ground clearance without load is expected to be around 185 mm. Two LFP battery packs taken from BYD have been used in it.

A 144 PS electric motor is available with a small 48.8 kWh battery, which generates 192.5 Nm torque. At the same time, with a larger 61.1 kWh battery, power of 174 PS is available, in which the torque remains the same.

Both variants have DC fast charging support, due to which the battery can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in just 50 minutes. With the large battery, a claimed driving range of up to 543 km on a single charge is claimed.

Talking about the features, it will get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which will have features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, powered front seats, automatic climate control, 360 degree camera and connected car technology. Level 2 ADAS will also be available, which will have features like adaptive cruise control.

This five seater SUV has achieved five star rating in Bharat NCAP. It has got 31.49 out of 32 marks for adult safety and 43 out of 49 marks for child safety. Standard safety features include seven airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX mounts. It will be available in a total of 11 paint schemes, which include Land Breeze Green with BH Black Roof, Splendid Silver with BH Black Roof, Opulent Red with BH Black Roof, Arctic White with BH Black Roof, Nexa Blue, Grandeur Grey, Splendid Silver, Arctic White, Opulent Red, BH Black and Land Breeze Green.

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker, is on the verge of its most significant transformation into electric mobility. The small 49 kWh pack has a WLTP range of up to 344 km and is available with a front-wheel drive setup that produces 142 bhp and 193 Nm of torque. The larger 61 kWh pack is available in FWD and AWD variants. While the FWD variant offers a WLTP range of up to 426 km, from an electric motor that outputs 171bhp and 193 Nm, the AWD variant bumps the power output to 181 bhp and 307 Nm of torque, for a range of up to 395 km. Price-wise, early reports are around the starting range 20 lakh ex-showroom for the Indian market.

Maruti Suzuki E Vitara presents a modern and premium design with LED projector headlights, Y-shaped LED daytime running lights and front fog lamps. Since it is an electric vehicle, it does not require any conventional radiator grille. The side profile features black cladding and 18-inch aerodynamically optimized alloy wheels. At the rear, it has a black bumper, three-piece LED taillights connected by a glossy black strip.

Maruti Suzuki E Vitara: Interior and features

Inside, the E Vitara is equipped with a dual-spoke steering wheel and a dual-screen dashboard setup. It includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Other interior features include rectangular AC vents, an auto-dimming IRVM, semi-leatherette seats, an electronic parking brake and a wireless phone charger. Additional features include a panoramic sunroof, 10-way adjustable driver's seat and ventilated front seats. The vehicle comes standard with seven airbags, 360-degree surround view camera and ADAS technology.
