Kia Carens Clavis Ev: India's first 7 seater electric car, perfect for big family

Kia Carens Clavis Ev: India's first 7 seater electric car, perfect for big family

New Delhi. Amidst the glut of electric SUV in the market, Kia Carens Clavis Ev looks like a fresh air. It focuses more on EV power, performance, range and some off-road features. This electric car of Kia is made keeping in mind the family who prefer to travel together. Kia ran India's first 7-seat mass-market EV, which comes with 42 kwh and 51.4 kwh battery options.

How is the design?
The design is like Carens Clavis Ice (petrol and diesel), but there are some fine differences – EV has air flaps for closed grills, separate alloy wheels, 'EV' badging and low drag. The cabin has a center console with 'floating design', gear lever has been transferred behind the steering wheel (as a stock), the instrument cluster has information like range/charge in the instrument cluster, besides a small front trunk below the bonnet.

How is the cabin?

Klavis EV has a fairly practical cabin-the second row seats can slide/relieve, and the third is an one-tach electric tumble for easy access to the row. 'Boss mode' lets you shift the front passenger seat from behind. Adults of average size in third row can easily fit, and the flat floor comfort up.

The driver's seating position is good, the road has a commanding view. Gear stock has to flick to go from P to R to R. Because there is a battery pack in the floor, the seating position is high. The suspension sounds a bit hard (for extra battery weight), the rest of the back seat is good, and the legroom looks better than the Creta Electric, with which it shares the platform and the battery pack.

What is i-Pedal?

There is a technique in this EV called I-Pedal. You have to set the braking on a maximum level using paddle shifters behind the steering wheel (and the maximum level is I-Pedal). Then, as soon as you remove your foot from the accelerator, the car slows down very fast. In stop-end-go traffic, it means that you will not have to use a brake pedal at all.

What is the True Range?
Where Kia claims a range of 490 km, the Test car showed a 384 km real world range, not enough for long trips, but with the right driving a family can travel from Delhi to Jaipur/Agra/Chandigarh or Mumbai to Nashik/Pune. Should you buy it? The 42-KWH variant is priced at Rs 17.99-20.49 lakhs, and the 51.4-KWH variant is priced at Rs 22.49-24.49 lakhs. It is in the same range of Creta Electric, but Kia also has more space, a little long range, fast charging and seven seats options.

On-road price 63.09 lakh rupees

Tesla's official website shows that the driver's interfare will be required for all automatic functions. But the driver is not required for a completely self-driving feature. In the US, Tesla cars are adaptive according to American road conditions and the car does its work in the best way. From changing lanes on the highway to running into the traffic of the city, the car itself runs. On the other hand, it is written on the Indian website – currently these features require active driver interfare.

Feature loaded SUV
In addition to a fully self-driving feature, Tesla Model Y is a feature-loaded SUV. This includes features such as 15.4-inch touchscreen, powered seats, heated and ventilated seats, ambient lighting, power recline second-and seats, heated rear seats, 8-inch touchscreen (rear), acousstick glass, 9-spicker sound system, 8 XT system, 8 XTRs and powered tails. SUV comes with two battery pack options – 62kwh and 84kwh. The range of small battery pack is 500 km. While the range of large battery pack is 622 km.

  • Mahindra is also bringing an electric version of Thar.
  • The electric SUV market in India is growing rapidly.
New Delhi. The electric SUV in India is growing rapidly in the market, in which many big companies and new start-ups are making their place. However, most of these are monocok vehicles and do not have the ability to off-roading. But, now the force is preparing an electric version of its offerer Gurkha, which has been spotted during testing for the first time. Come, let's look closely on it.

Mahindra and Force
The competition between Mahindra Auto and Force Motors in the lifestyle SUV segment has been long ago. But it is clear that at present, Mahindra is a one -sided winner in this competition. The company is now stepping into the electric segment after selling Thar and Thar Rocks with petrol and diesel engines. Force Motors is also trying to make its place in the electric lifestyle SUV segment.

Waiting for official announcement

The company has not yet given any information about Gurkha EV, however, seeing the spy image, it is clear that the company has started testing Gurkha EV. It can be estimated that Force Motors is getting ready to compete with Mahindra, including an electric version of Thar. On August 15, Mahindra is preparing to showcase 4 new concept vehicles and one of them can be the Near Production version of Thar Electric.

Combat with Thar
Force Motors can develop an electric version of its Gurkha to compete with Mahindra's Future Electric Offerings. Looking at the test mule, we can see that it is fully visible without any chemoplas. If the company is actually developing the electric version of its already popular Gurkha, then there is less possibility of any change in the design in Gurkha EV. This test mule was part of the Fleet of the other Force Motors Test mules. ,

Tata has launched its new electric SUV Harrier.EV, which competes with Mahindra XEV 9E. In the drag race, Harrier.EV won, its powertrain is 316hp and 504 Nm.

Highlights

  • Tata Harrier.ev defeated Mahindra XEV 9E in the drag race.
  • Harrier.ev has powertrain 316hp and 504 Nm.
  • The XEV 9E's powertrain output is 305 HP and 380 Nm.
New Delhi. Tata has recently launched its electric SUV Harrier SUV. It has been launched by the company under the name Harrier.ev. Its direct competition in India is from Mahindra XEV 9E. So which of these two vehicles is more powerful? The drag race was recently conducted between these two vehicles, whose video has been posted on YouTube. So let's know who won this drag race?

Race in big parking space
It seems that this drag race took place in a large parking space, which is in the premises of a stadium or race track. Both are standing in the electric SUV line. As soon as the race begins, the Harrier is ahead of the XEV 9E. Rapid torque of electric vehicles is known for delivery. Here the fight is between two EVs. Therefore, the victory depends entirely on the powertrain capabilities.

Two-Motor setup

The Harrier.EV has a two-motor setup-one motor is mounted on each axle. The joint output of this powertrain is 316hp and 504 Nm. The AWD Harrier.EV is 0-100 km/hr 6.3 seconds. On the other hand, XEV also has a single-motor setup on the range-topping variants. It is mounted on the rear axle and gives it power. XEV's powertrain output is 305 HP and 380 Nm. It can catch a speed of 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds.

AWD Setup
Due to the AWD setup, the Harrier is faster than the EV Xev. This is the reason that it got the title in this drag race. The credit for fast acceleration can also be given to the upper hand of large torque. The Harrier.EV's Paurtrain claims 200Nm more torque than XEV. This means that fast acceleration, even if the weight is high. Tata also has a rear wheel drive (RWD) version of the Harrier.EV in which the rear axle-mounted electric motor produces 238 HP and 315 Nm. This variant can give different results in the drag test.

Battery pack size
The size of the battery pack is another major difference between the two. The XEV offers two batteries – both 59 kwh and 79 kwh are obtained from BYD. On the other hand, the Harrier.EV is available with 65 kwh and 75 kWh batteries. This can be the first real world comparison between the two electric SUVs.
