Big decision of Maruti! This car with 5-star rating will not run in taxis, know why the company took this step

New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki vehicles are known for their low price and excellent mileage. This is the reason why these cars are also very popular among taxi operators. Especially, Maruti Dezire was bought extensively as a taxi in the compact sedan segment. But, its effect was that the customers who wanted to take it for their personal use started staying away from it. In view of this, Maruti Suzuki has taken a big decision. The company has announced that the upcoming 5-star rated new Dezire will not be sold as a taxi.

The Tour S variant of Dzire is very popular among taxi operators. This variant is specifically designed for commercial use, with priority given to features that make it suitable for use as a taxi.

Will the Tour S variant be updated?
With the launch of the new Dezire, the question is arising whether the Dezire Tour S will also be updated or not. At present, this does not seem to be happening. It may take some time for the Desire Tour S to be upgraded to the fourth generation model. Till then this variant will remain available in the market along with its current third generation model.

The Tour S variant contributes significantly to the total sales of Dezire. According to the data, more than 1.65 lakh units of Dezire were sold in the financial year 2023-24, of which about 40% was of the Tour S variant.

Better safety features in new Dezire
The new Maruti Dezire has already been tested in the Global NCAP crash test, in which the car performed brilliantly. It has received 5-star rating for adult protection and 4-star rating for child protection.
– Adult Protection Score: 31.24 points out of 34
– Child Protection Score: 39.20 points out of 42

This is the first car from Maruti to achieve 5-star safety rating.

Big change in design
The design of the new Dezire is completely different from the old model. It has a large front grille, rectangular LED headlights, and redesigned fog lamps. Y-shaped LED taillights and chrome strip at the rear make its look even better. The top variant has 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and LED lights with DRLs. Its wheelbase is 2,450 mm and ground clearance is 163 mm, making it suitable for Indian roads.

Engine and powertrain
The new Dezire has a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine. This engine generates power of 82hp and torque of 112Nm. 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options are available in the vehicle.

This step of Maruti has been taken keeping in mind those customers who want to buy it for their personal use. The new Dezire has now become an even better option as a family sedan.

These 4 cars have the weakest iron, they failed in the crash test, yet people are standing in line to buy them.

New Delhi. Today lakhs of two-wheelers and four-wheelers are being sold across the country. While braking system is mainly used as a safety feature in two-wheelers, safety is very important in four-wheelers. Although, there are many such models in the country which are in high demand, but they are proving to be weak in terms of safety.

Most of these include Maruti models, which are selling well in the market, but are failing in crash tests. Let us know about 4 such cars which have got very poor ratings in crash tests but people are buying them indiscriminately in the market.

Maruti Ertiga has only 1-star safety rating
Maruti's popular 7-seater Ertiga has received only 1-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test. Ertiga got 23.63 out of 34 points for adult occupant protection, while it got only 19.40 out of 49 points for child occupant protection. This car is the best seller in the 7-seater segment, but has proved to be weak in terms of safety. The starting ex-showroom price of Ertiga is Rs 8.69 lakh (ex-showroom).

Nexa Ignis also gets only one star in safety
Nexa dealership's entry level car Ignis has also got only 1-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test. It got 16.48 points out of 34 for adult occupant protection, while it got only 3.86 points out of 49 for child occupant protection. The starting ex-showroom price of Ignis is Rs 5.84 lakh.

S-Presso also lags behind in safety
Maruti's mini SUV S-Presso has also received a 1-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test. It got 20.03 out of 34 points for adult occupant protection, while it got 3.52 out of 49 points for child occupant protection. The starting ex-showroom price of S-Presso is Rs 4.27 lakh.

WagonR is most popular, but fails in safety
Maruti WagonR, one of the most popular cars in the country, has also received a 1-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test. It got 19.69 out of 34 points for adult occupant protection, while it got only 3.40 out of 49 points for child occupant protection. The starting ex-showroom price of WagonR is Rs 5.55 lakh. Nearly 1 lakh units of this car have been sold in the first 6 months of this year, but this car is also far behind in terms of safety.

Pay attention before buying
If you are planning to buy a car, then definitely look at its safety rating before buying. The safety ratings of many popular cars sold in the market are quite poor. In such a situation, if you want full value of your money, then include safety also in the list.

Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs have secured five star rating at the Global NCAP crash tests and Bharat NCAP becoming two of the safest cars in India.

Tata Safari and Harrier

Tata Motors was the first automobile manufacturer that really started the movement about safe cars in India with the Nexon. However, they took a long time to crash-test the Harrier and Safari. With the facelifts, the manufacturer finally sent the SUVs to Global NCAP for a crash test and they scored the highest rating in the crash test. Not only this, the Harrier and the Safari are also the first vehicles to be tested by Bharat NCAP. Both the SUVs are based on Land Rover’s Omegarc platform so it makes sense that both SUVs also share the same safety rating and features.

Hyundai Verna

Well, this came as a surprise to everyone. Hyundai Verna scored 5 stars in the Global NCAP crash test. It is the first made-in-India car from Hyundai to achieve five stars in the crash test. The new generation of Verna was launched in the Indian market this year and has been doing decent in terms of sales. The voluntary test for the Hyundai Verna was one of the last tests to be done by Global NCAP for India.
