Repsol began sponsoring Honda when they entered Grand Prix racing in 1995 and since then they have enjoyed immense success with multiple constructors titles and riders championships.
Spanish oil company Repsol will no longer sponsor the Honda MotoGP team from next season, the Japanese motorcycle maker said on Sunday, ending an iconic partnership that spanned three decades.
Repsol began sponsoring Honda when they entered Grand Prix racing in 1995 and since then they have enjoyed immense success with multiple constructors titles and riders championships, riding greats such as Mick Doohan, Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez.
With Repsol as the main sponsor, Honda achieved 15 premier class world championships, 10 premier class team championships, 183 premier class wins and 455 premier class podiums.
“After 30 years of collaboration at the highest level of motorcycle racing, Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) and Repsol will part ways at the conclusion of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship,” Honda said in a statement.
“Honda HRC and Repsol have enjoyed a partnership that has become synonymous with success at the highest level.
“Beyond the sponsorship, it has been a true collaboration between both companies, striving to continue as a reference in Grand Prix motorcycling.”
Honda have struggled since Marquez won the last of his six MotoGP titles in 2019, with the Spaniard missing the entire 2020 season after an opening race crash.
The team soon fell behind Italian manufacturers Ducati and Aprilia, and Marquez also left the team at the end of the 2023 season when he switched to Gresini Racing – which uses Ducati machines.
Marquez's departure also sees Red Bull cut its ties with Honda, which has failed to produce a top-10 finish in MotoGP this season with either Joan Mir or Luca Marini.

Honda Sahara 300 replaces the famed XRE 300 in Brazil and is more in line with the Honda CB range of adventure motorcycles.
Honda Motorcycle Brazil has introduced the new Sahara 300 to its market, bringing a new and more accessible adventure motorcycle to its stable. The new Honda Sahara 300 replaces the famed XRE 300 in the brand’s stable and the new offering is more in line with the manufacturer’s CB range of adventure motorcycles.
The new Honda Sahara 300 gets a complete redo over the XRE 300 with new body panels, more features and a revised motor. The feature list comprises a new digital instrument console, a Type-C USB charger, dual-channel ABS, pre-load adjustable suspension and more. The styling is identical to the Honda CB500X, albeit in a more skeletal and leaner form.
Also Read : Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India achieves major milestone, sells 6 crore units
Power on the Honda Sahara 300 comes from the 293 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC motor. This is starkly different from the DOHC setup on the older XRE 300. The new engine is E100-compatible and is capable of churning out more power on ethanol in Brazil. The motor develops 25.2 bhp on ethanol as against 24.8 bhp on petrol, while peak torque stands at 27 Nm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. With a kerb weight of just 149 kg, the Sahara 300 is light on its feet. However, the tall seat height of 859 mm may not be favourable for Indian customers.
Other components include telescopic forks at the front with 245 mm of travel while the rear gets a monoshock with 225 mm of travel. The bike rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoked wheels. The Sahara 300 is available in three variants in Brazil – Standard, Rally and Adventure. Prices start from 27,090 Real (approx. ₹4.50 lakh) for Standard, 27,690 Real (approx. ₹4.60 lakh) for Rally, and 28,650 Real (approx. ₹4.76 lakh) for Adventure.
There’s no word if Honda plans to introduce the Sahara 300 in other markets, particularly India. The model would slot rather well between the CB200X and CB500X, should it be built and sold here. That said, rumours are rife of Honda India developing a new adventure motorcycle based on the CB350 platform. The company though is yet to confirm any details.

In the meantime, the automaker has rolled out special year-end offers for March 2024. This includes a discount of up to ₹50,000 on the Elevate along with benefits of up to ₹90,000 on the Amaze. In a bittersweet finale, Nissan prepares to bid farewell to its iconic GT-R with a final limited-edition model for the 2025 model year. Insider report
…
In a bittersweet finale, Nissan prepares to bid farewell to its iconic GT-R with a final limited-edition model for the 2025 model year. Insider reports hint at an exclusive release of only 1,500 units, with a portion of these expected to be high-performance Nismo models.
The Nissan GT-R, an icon in the world of supercars, is gearing up for its swan song with a final limited-edition model slated for the 2025 model year. Despite being on the scene since 2007, the R35 generation GT-R has maintained its status as a supercar slayer, thanks to its impressive performance figures.
According to insider sources cited by Japanese publication Mag X, Nissan is set to unveil the final 2025 model year GT-R on March 14. Reports suggest that only 1,500 units will be produced, with approximately 300 of them expected to be Nismo models. However, it remains unclear whether these limited editions will be exclusive to the Japanese market or offered globally.
Details about the final model are scarce, but given that the 2024 GT-R received significant visual updates just 12 months ago, including new front and rear fascias, major upgrades for the 2025 version seem unlikely. Perhaps there will be some minor aerodynamic tweaks or adjustments to the trim levels, but a complete overhaul seems improbable, especially for a model that will be discontinued after producing just 1,500 units.
If the reports are accurate and 2025 indeed marks the final year of the R35 GT-R, enthusiasts can expect some commemorative touches to the sports model, such as special badges or decals. Mechanically, the regular variant is likely to retain the same 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine found in the 2024 model, with 565 bhp and 632 Nm of torque. The GT-R Nismo variant could see a boost to 600 hp and 481 lb-ft (651 Nm) of torque.
When the GT-R first hit the market, it sent shockwaves through the supercar world, much like the original Honda NSX did in its time. It was one of the fastest production vehicles on the planet, capable of outpacing cars that cost significantly more. However, over the past 17 years, the supercar landscape has evolved, with lighter and more powerful competitors entering the market, outperforming the GT-R with ease.
While the 2025 GT-R may be the final chapter for the R35 generation, Nissan is likely to introduce a replacement in the near future. The form of the R36 model, however, remains a mystery. At the recent Japan Mobility Show 2023, Nissan teased the future with the Hyper Force concept, a GT-R-inspired model powered by electric motors capable of producing a staggering 1,341 bhp. This glimpse into the future suggests that the GT-R’s legacy of performance and innovation is far from over.

Hybrid cars have been increasingly becoming popular across India, bridging the gap between electric cars and ICE models.
Hybrid cars are gradually gaining higher traction in the Indian passenger vehicle market. Over the last few years, several automakers present in the Indian market have been shifting their focus on bringing in new cleaner and greener powertrain technologies. While the ultimate goal remains steady on battery electric vehicles, hybrid cars are bridging the gap between pure EVs and fossil fuel-propelled models that run on petrol or diesel.
Market data reveals that between September and November 2023, sales of hybrid cars surged significantly surpassing the electric car retail numbers. While electric car sales have been witnessing a marginal slowdown, in sync with the worldwide trend, hybrid cars are recording a ramp-up in growth. As the numbers testify, a total of 24,062 units of hybrid cars were sold between September and November last year, as against 21,455 units of battery electric cars.
The question is why Indians are in love with hybrid cars instead of pure electric vehicles.
Advantages of hybrid technology over pure ICE or EV
It is well known that hybrid cars offer the benefit of both worlds, internal combustion engines (ICE) and electric vehicles (EV), by combining a fossil fuel engine with an electric motor and a battery pack. By blending the best of both worlds, the hybrid powertrain technology not only ensures lower tailpipe emission compared to pure petrol or pure diesel models but also offers lower fuel consumption and longer driving range, eventually resulting in financial savings for the vehicle owners.
At the same time, hybrid powertrain technology comes at a cheaper cost compared to pure electric vehicles. Besides that, using a hybrid car boosts the consumers’ confidence in electrified propulsion technology. There are different types of hybrid powertrain technology available in the market, which include micro hybrid, mild hybrid, full hybrid and plug-in hybrid. In the first two variants, the electric motor acts as an assisting component for the internal combustion engine, which generates the actual propulsion power, while in the latter two variants, the electric motor itself can generate propulsion power for the vehicle with assistance from a battery pack. Many full hybrid or plug-in hybrid cars can run about 50-kilometre distance on electric power alone.

Hybrid cars offer a cost-effective solution against pure ICE, EV and CNG models
In the last few years, several automakers in the Indian passenger vehicle market have launched their respective hybrid cars. Maruti SuzukiGrand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, HondaCity and Toyota Innova Hycross are some of the key passenger vehicles in the country, which currently are sold as hybrid models. Interestingly, the hybrid powertrain technology has penetrated not only the mass-market segment but the luxury segment as well. The reason behind this is the rising consumer demand for this tech.
Multiple factors have played their bit in this growth story of hybrid cars. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, demands for personal mobility have surged drastically. At the same time, sky-high petrol and diesel prices and the significantly high cost of acquisition for electric cars have paved the way for hybrid cars in India, which satiate the requirement for lower tailpipe emission in the face of tightening emission norms and growing concern for environmental pollution. Besides that, the promise of a longer driving range and lower fuel consumption too helped the growth of hybrid cars.
Petrol and diesel prices in India have shot up by around 41 per cent since 2019. In such a situation increased availability of CNG kits in the aftermarket and OEMs introducing petrol-CNG cars have offered the consumers a viable solution, but with that, the vehicle owners have to compromise on boot storage. Electric vehicles too have come up dramatically in the last few years, but even now, an electric car costs significantly more than its ICE counterpart. Besides that, other factors like confusion about the lifecycle of EVs, lack of charging infrastructure, and range anxiety have been hindering the desired growth of electric cars.
On the other hand, hybrid technology offers a key viable solution, where consumers don’t have to worry about range anxiety or compromise on the boot space of their vehicles while getting the benefit of both ICE and EVs. The consumers have understood this and shifting their focus accordingly. Buoyed by that, carmakers in India are increasingly focusing on bringing hybrid cars into the market, fuelling the cyclic growth in the segment.

Honda Elevate is offered only with a petrol engine. It comes mated to a manual gearbox or an automatic transmission.
Honda has announced that they will be selling their Elevate SUV through Canteen Stores Department (CSD) across the country for the Indian Armed Forces. The Elevate is the third model from Honda to be sold through Canteen Stores Department as Honda is already selling the City and the Amaze.
Honda Elevate shares its underpinnings with the 5th Gen City. So, it is powered by a 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 119 bhp of max power at 6,600 rpm and a peak torque output of 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission with 7-steps.
The fuel efficiency figure for the manual gearbox is 15.31 kmpl whereas the automatic transmission delivers 16.92 kmpl of fuel efficiency. The manufacturer will not sell the Elevate with a diesel engine. Instead, they will launch an all-electric version of the Elevate within the next two years.
The Elevate is currently one of the most affordable mid-size SUVs in the Indian market. It is priced between ₹11.58 lakh and ₹16.20 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom. There are four variants on offer – SV, V, VX, and ZX. Apart from the SV variant, the automatic transmission is available in all variants.
Honda Elevate competes against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Citroen C3 Aircross, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
The Elevate comes standard with features such as LED projector headlamps with Daytime Running Lamps, multi-function steering wheel, push button to start/stop engine, power adjustable ORVMs, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, PM2.5 air filter and front armrest.
The top-end variant is also equipped with Honda Sensing Technology which is essentially a suite of ADAS features. Honda offers Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Lead Car Departure System, Road Departure Mitigation and auto-dimming IRVM.

From Ather to Ola and everything in between, there is something from every major EV player coming up in 2024.
2023 was a particularly challenging year for the electric two-wheeler segment. While demand soared on one end, manufacturers also faced challenges with the revision of the FAME II subsidy hiking prices across the EV space. Nevertheless, the demand continues to be on the rise for electric two-wheelers and manufacturers – new and traditional alike – are gearing up to introduce many new models in the coming year.
With electric two-wheeler sales exceeding the 8.3 lakh mark in 2023, the number is only expected to increase further in 2024. So if you are looking to bring a new electric scooter or motorcycle home next year, this should be the list to watch out for. From Ather to Ola and everything in between, there is something for everyone in this space. Here are the top 10 electric two-wheeler launches lined up in 2024.
Kicking off the new year will be the Ather 450 Apex. The new electric scooter arrives on January 6 and will be a new limited-run model line based on the 450X. The teaser images promise the transparent side panels from the 450X Series 1 limited edition, as well as a boost in performance. Expect to see visual upgrades as well when the 450 Apex arrives next month, albeit in limited numbers.
2. Ampere NXG
Ampere Electric Mobility, the EV arm of Greaves Cotton, previewed the NXG electric scooter at the 2023 Auto Expo and the model is slated to arrive in 2024. Showcased as a concept, the Ampere NXG is expected to stick close to the concept in shape and form while packing a 7-inch TFT screen, PMS mid-drive electric motor and a host of other features. The Ampere NXG will be the new flagship offering from the company and will take on the Ather 450X, Ola S1 Pro and Simple One presently on sale.
3. TVS iQube ST
While the TVS iQube is one of the best-selling electric scooters on sale, the much-awaited iQube ST continues to elude the market. The model was even showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. The TVS iQube ST will be the top-spec variant of the electric scooter and packs a larger 4.56 kWh battery pack with a longer range of 145 km in Eco mode and 110 km in Power mode. The iQube ST also gets a higher top speed of 82 kmph as against 78 kmph on the iQube S. The e-scooter will come with a 950W charger powering the battery from 0-80 per cent in 4 hours and 6 minutes, while the company will also offer a 1,500W charger that’ll shorten the charging time to 2 hours and 30 minutes. The ST variant will be 3 kg heavier and will also get a price bump upon arrival.
4. 2024 Bajaj Chetak Premium
The 2024 Chetak Urbane was launched recently with a subtle refresh and you can expect the more premium Chetak Premium variant to arrive over the next few weeks. According to leaked documents, the 2024 Chetak Premium will carry a larger 3.2 kWh fixed battery promising a longer range of 126 km on a single charge. The electric scooter will also get a new 7-inch touchscreen console that will bring features like turn-by-turn navigation and notification alerts. The top speed will also increase to 73 kmph on the top variant. The 2024 Bajaj Chetak Premium should be more competitively equipped to take on the Ather 450S, Ola S1 Air, Simple Dot One and the like in the segment.
5. Ather Family Scooter
Also coming from the house of Ather Energy next year will be the family electric scooter. Ather Energy has been testing its new offering and the e-scooter is expected to grace showrooms in 2024. Details are scarce about the new family electric scooter but the model is expected to be more rounded and appealing to a wider audience and will give Ather a stronger product to level up its volume game. The new family e-scooter is also likely to be more affordable than the 450X.
6. Honda Electric Scooter & Motorcycle
Making its debut in the electric mobility segment will be Honda Two-Wheelers India with its maiden electric offering. The company has already announced its plans to bring two electric scooters with fixed and swappable batteries respectively. Honda Global also announced recently that an electric motorcycle will be made in India and is slated to arrive in 2024. India will play a major role in Honda’s electric mobility plans going forward, especially in producing mass-market EVs. Honda’s maiden electric scooter should arrive by March 2024.
7. Tork Kratos X
The Tork Kratos X was first unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo and was slated to arrive in June 2023. However, the FAME II subsidy revisions threw a spanner in the works of the Pune-based start-up. Tork Motors now plans to bring the Kratos X by mid-2024 and the electric motorcycle will see key changes over the one showcased at the expo. The X will be the flagship offering but will also come with an upgraded motor for better power and torque output. It needs to be seen if the aluminium swingarm, 7-inch TFT screen and winglets will be carried over on the updated version.

At present, the UltravioletteF77 has the biggest battery pack at 10.5 kWh.
9. Matter Aera
Having launched its maiden e-bike earlier this year, Ahmedabad-based Matter will finally begin deliveries of the Aera electric motorcycle next year. The Matter Aera is priced from ₹1.73 lakh to ₹1.83 lakh (ex-showroom) and the reservation window is currently open. The Aera will be the first electric motorcycle to get a liquid-cooled motor and battery, and a functional 4-speed gearbox. Deliveries should begin from March 2024 onwards.
10. Kinetic Green e-Luna
Making a comeback in an all-electric avatar, Kinetic Green will revive the Luna name for its upcoming electric two-wheeler called the ‘e-Luna.’ The electric moped promises to be as functional as its yester-year ICE version and will pack a host of features as well. The company has not revealed more details about the e-Luna but the model is expected to arrive in the first half of 2024.

Mercedes-Benz has also said that it will showcase its updated AI-powered MBUX virtual assistant that will offer a more human-like interaction opportunity with the car.
Mercedes-Benz has said the new MBUX virtual assistant takes the ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice assistant into a whole new visual dimension using high-resolution game-engine graphics developed by Unity Technologies. This updated MBUX system will debut in Mercedes-Benz cars in 2024.
While the AI-fuelled updated version of MBUX will be a key attraction from Mercedes-Benz at CES 2024, the carmaker will also showcase a camouflaged prototype of the pure electric G-Class that is among the much-awaited Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles. Also, the automaker will showcase the Concept CLA electric sedan with a coupe design promising more than 750-kilometre range. With an appearance at this event, the Mercedes-Benz Concept CLA will make its North American debut.
The Concept CLA four-door sedan previews the new entry-level vehicles from the luxury car marquee, which will comprise both internal combustion engine (ICE) propelled models as well as electric vehicles. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz India is gearing up to launch its GLS facelift in the country on 8th January 2024, which made its global debut earlier this year.

PTI has quoted a senior official of Honda Cars India saying that it will increase the prices of its cars from January 2024 in order to partially offset the impact of rising input costs. This comes following the announcement by several other automakers in India that have already announced that the pricing of their respective passenger vehicles will see a hike from next month.

Honda Cars India currently sells three passenger vehicles in India. These are the Amaze compact sedan, City midsize sedan and Elevate SUV. Speaking about the decision, Honda Cars India’s Vice President (Marketing and Sales) Kunal Behl said that the auto company will increase the prices of its models from next month due to pressure on input costs. “The model-wise amount of increase will be finalised by the end of this month. Our new model Elevate which was launched at an introductory price has been well received by the market with very high customer consideration. The introductory price will be valid till December 23 and price will be revised from January 2024,” he added.
Honda is working on a range of electric two-wheelers globally that will arrive in the next few years and the company previewed one such model at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show with the SC e: concept. The Honda SC e: electric scooter concept is positioned above the EM:1 electric scooter, also showcased in the production guise at the auto show, and hints at a more family-oriented offering.

The Honda SC e: looks like a more fleshed-out idea of an electric scooter and could be comparable to a 125 cc offering. The design language is modern yet appealing to a wider customer base with smoother lines, a contoured single-piece seat and a full-size pillion grab handle. The front apron houses the LED headlamp with the LED DRL that brings a signature element to the concept, while the 12-inch alloy wheels look nice and chunky with a perforated disc design. The turn indicators are finished in teal.
The SC e: concept draws power from a PMS mid-drive motor, while power will come from two Honda Mobile Power Pack e: battery packs. Each battery pack weighs 10 kg and will be placed under the seat. This leaves little room for practical under-seat storage space but will allow the flexibility to swap batteries and maximise productivity with the e-scooter. Honda does not confirm a range on the concept but it could offer a real-world range of about 100 km on a single charge. The top speed is likely to be around 70 kmph.
There’s no word on when the Honda SC e: concept will enter production. However, it will be interesting to see how much it will influence the electric scooters being designed for India. Honda 2Wheelers India has already announced its plans to introduce two electric scooters in the country by March 2024, one of which will use swappable batteries. The company is expected to bring an e-scooter for last-mile deliveries and one for private customers. The company is already setting up battery-swapping stations in India.

Repsol Honda Team rider Marc Marquez unveiled his new helmet ahead of the maiden Indian GP scheduled this weekend. The former MotoGP world champion arrived in India earlier today amidst visa woes that delayed his arrival. Speaking at the first press conference at the Indian GP, the Spaniard spoke about looking forward to riding at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) tomorrow.
Marc Marquez’s new Shoei helmet gets a vibrant colour scheme, representing the vibrant Indian culture. It also features the Indian tri-colour further giving it a unique touch compared to the helmet designed used by the rider in other races. The specially designed helmet certainly celebrates the maiden Indian GP, which kicks off with the practice session on Friday, September 22.
Marquez comes to India after the testing session at Misano. Elaborating on the same during the press conference, the rider said that the Honda race bike remained the same in terms of specifications but the new track would make for an interesting playing field for the riders. The BIC has been repurposed for MotoGP duties (originally designed as an F1 circuit) and this will be the very first time MotoGP riders will have their hand on the circuit. This should level the playing field for the riders, making for an even more interesting race weekend.
Earlier in the day, Marc Marquez went around the circuit with former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina, interestingly on a Royal Enfield Classic 350 with a sidecar.
The Grand Prix of India will begin with the practice session on Friday with the riders getting the first taste of the circuit, followed by the qualifying and sprint race on Saturday. The main race is scheduled at 3.30 pm (IST) on Sunday, September 24.

With the help of its two sedans – the fifth generation City and the sub-compact Amaze, the carmaker has been able to deliver 7,880 units last month. The celebratory fervour, which began with Onam in southern India, will extend to the rest of the markets as we move towards the peak of festivities in the coming months,” Yuichi Murata, Director Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India, said.
Meanwhile, Honda’s export has dropped to 2,189 units against 2,356 units in August 2022, a decline of around seven per cent.
