Hyundai dropped the first teaser of a new concept model for debut at IAA Mobility Show 2025 in Munich, Germany on 9 September 2025. While the details are fully wrapped, the concept is expected to enter the production of the IONIQ 2 nameplate. The upcoming Hyundai IonIQ 2 Compact EV was first tested in July 2025, which was ready for production.

Teaser images reveal a design that recently persists to the IONIQ 6 facelift, with the upcoming model bearing smooth, with LED strips connected to the headlights and tail lamps. While the IONIQ cars typically embrace a crossover shape, the IonIQ 2 will feature a hatchback silhouette with a fastback-style rear end, which is rounded by an integrated dutby spiler.
Images perform large air interactions on front bumper, a major nose design and flared-out fender. The overall size appears to be similar to the camouflage prototype, but the concept will debut with a separate set of a bodykit and wheels.
Hyundai Ioniq 2: Expected Battery & Range

Hyundai Ioniq 2 is being developed in association with Kia EV2, in which two models share many features and components. Compact EV can be outlined by a low-level, front-wheel drive version of the eV-only e-GMP platform, similar to the 400V architecture that reduces the large Kia EV3. While Kia sells its crossover with 58.3 kwh and 81.4 kWh options, IonIQ 2 is expected to be limited to a small unit. An FWD Drivetrain with a small battery will allow Hyundai to adapt the cost in its effort to make mass-market EV.
When it comes to the limit, EV3 currently offers a single-charge of up to 605 km with its largest battery pack, excluding the torque of 201 BHP and 283 Nm. IonIQ 2 is expected to be slightly less than that, while still bringing decent figures for urban traffic.
