Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Kia Sonet will be launched with new generation, hybrid engine and new features in the next few years.
The Indian sub-4 meter compact SUV segment will soon see many major changes, which will include new generation models. Some already popular subcompact SUVs will get generational upgrades in the coming years, such as the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO and the Kia Sonet.

The next-generation Hyundai Venue will go on sale on November 4, 2025. The popular Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet will enter their new generation in 2027, while the Mahindra XUV 3XO will undergo a major makeover in 2028. The all-new Maruti Brezza will come with a strong hybrid powertrain in 2029. Let's take a look at some details of these upcoming subcompact SUVs.

Nexon The second generation Tata Nexon will be based on the existing X1 platform. The compact SUV may get a curve-inspired design and many new features. The 1.2L turbo petrol engine will be taken from the current generation. However, it remains to be seen whether the diesel engine will continue in the next generation or not.

With its generational upgrade, the Maruti Brezza will become hybrid. According to media reports, the 2029 Maruti Brezza will be powered by the brand's in-house developed 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine, paired with a strong hybrid system. However, this may be limited to higher trims. The existing petrol engine may also be on offer.

The new generation Mahindra XUV 3XO may be based on the Vision X concept, which was showcased on August 15, 2025. It can also switch to the new NU_IQ platform, which is compatible with multiple powertrains.

The next-generation Kia Sonet may have a completely redesigned exterior, more upmarket interiors and new technology. No mechanical changes are expected. It will continue with 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines.
