New Delhi. The demand for SUV segment is increasing rapidly in the Indian market. Proof of this is that the SUV segment will account for 52 percent of total car sales in the first half of 2024. If we talk about the first half of the current financial year 2025, Tata Punch was the best selling SUV during this period. Tata Punch sold 1,01,120 units between April and September 2024, compared to 72,626 units in the first half of the last financial year. In this way, an annual increase of 40.19 percent was recorded in the sales of Tata Punch.
Hyundai Creta stood second in terms of sales, selling 96,416 units with an annual growth of 15.20 percent. At the same time, Maruti Suzuki Brezza was at third place, which sold 93,659 units and its annual growth during this period was 14.31 percent.
Scorpio sales increased by 35%
Mahindra Scorpio stood at the fourth position, which sold 81,293 units with an annual growth of 35.83 percent. At the same time, Maruti Suzuki Suzuki stood at fifth position, which sold 73,841 units with an increase of 16.32 percent.
At sixth place was Tata Nexon, whose sales were 72,350 units with an annual decline of 8.38 percent. Hyundai Venue was at seventh place, with sales of 56,521 units and an annual decline of 10.81 percent was recorded.
Grand Vitara sales declined
At eighth place was Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, whose sales declined by 6.67 percent and 55,751 units were sold. Kia Sonet stood at the ninth position with sales of 55,017 units, a growth of 40.83 percent. At the tenth place was Mahindra XUV 300, whose sales were 50,501 units with an annual increase of 69.65 percent.
Tata Punch was successful in maintaining its lead in the segment, while other SUV models also continued to register their presence in the market with their own growth and decline.
