The KTM 890 Duke R is a naked streetfighter that competes with some of the leading premium middleweight category motorcycles in India, including the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS.

KTM India launched the 890 Duke R in the country a few days ago. 14.50 lakh (ex-showroom), which came with the KTM 890 Adventure R. The naked streetfighter arrived as an important part of the Austrian high-performance motorcycle manufacturer's larger bike portfolio. The KTM 890 Duke R comes in India as a completely built unit (CBU), resulting in a higher price bracket.

Available in KTM's signature blue and orange paint scheme, the 890 Duke R comes with an aggressive design, enhanced by the sharp tank shrouds. The naked streetfighter in the middleweight category competes with some key rivals in the Indian market, including models like the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS.

The KTM 890 Duke R is sold through the CBU route in India and is priced at Rs 14.50 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS is priced at Rs 11.81 lakh (ex-showroom). The Triumph Street Triple 765 RS comes as a more affordable alternative to the KTM 890 Duke R.

The KTM 890 Duke R naked streetfighter is powered by the same parallel-twin engine that powers the 790 Duke. It is powered by an 890 cc liquid-cooled engine which is tuned to produce 121 bhp of maximum power at 9,250 rpm and 99 Nm of peak torque at 7,750 rpm. This engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox which can be mated to an optional quick shifter.

The Triumph Street Triple 765 RS is powered by a 765 cc liquid-cooled, 12 valve, DOHC, inline three-cylinder engine, mated to a six-speed transmission. This engine produces 128.2 bhp at 12,000 rpm and 80 Nm of maximum torque at 9,500 rpm.

The 2025 Triumph Trident 660 has been unveiled globally with several new features. The latest generation of the middleweight naked roadster will be offered with four new color options, new electronic aids and an updated suspension setup. With this, the new Trident can now be had with cruise control, while traction control and cornering ABS come as standard features. It sports an all-LED headlamp, an integrated tail lamp and self-canceling indicators.

The powertrain and performance figures remain largely unchanged, with the same 660 cc liquid-cooled inline three-cylinder making 81 bhp at 10,250 rpm and 64 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm. It is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and a slip and assist clutch, and is equipped with Trident ride-by-wire technology, a new riding mode and a quickshifter.

The Trident 660 is built around a tubular steel perimeter frame with a two-way steel swingarm. The updated roadster has 41 mm Showa USD forks at the front, while a monoshock RSU has been installed at the rear. The Trident runs on five-spoke 17-inch cast aluminum wheels. Braking duties are handled by the same twin 310 mm disc at the front and single 255 mm disc at the rear.

The new and updated Triumph Trident 660 runs on the same powertrain as before but gets important features like traction control, traction control and cornering ABS.

Triumph Motorcycles has fitted a new sensor system, called the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), which is said to continuously monitor and adjust engine and braking parameters. This allows features such as traction control, optimized cornering ABS and cruise control to be offered as standard on the motorcycle.

The Trident 660 has three different riding modes, with 'Sport' mode being the newest. This mode brings quicker throttle response while the 'Road' mode focuses on refinement. Triumph says the 'Rain' mode softens the Trident's power delivery to make it suitable for wet conditions.

Other new features include an LCD instrument console with an integrated TFT connectivity unit that offers turn-by-turn navigation, calls, music and GoPro functionality. Triumph has fitted its bi-directional quickshifter as a standard feature on the 2025 Trident 660, which was an optional add-on in the preceding model.

The updated Triumph Trident 660 is expected to be launched in India, but the brand has not confirmed any date or price for the country market. In Europe, the new model is priced at £7,895 (approx.), the same as its predecessor 8.67 lakh), which is expected to be the case for India also
