On paper, the Kawasaki KLX 230 is more powerful than the Hero XPulse 200 4V.
Kawasaki recently introduced the much-awaited KLX 230 dual-sport motorcycle in India. Looking at its engine displacement and intended use, the KLX positions itself as a competitor to the famous Hero XPulse 200 4V. As we await official pricing details from Kawasaki for this new model, it is relevant to check how it compares to Hero's compact adventure motorcycles.
Kawasaki KLX 230 vs Hero XPulse 200 4V: Design
The KLX 230 gets a proper dual-sport look with its slim design, tall seat height, slim headlamp design and beak-like front mudguard. Then there is the XPulse 200 4V which comes with an LED headlamp, a beak-like front mudguard, knuckle guards and LED daytime running lamps. Overall, the XPulse 200 4V looks like an off-roader.
Kawasaki KLX 230 vs Hero XPulse 200 4V: Engine
The KLX 230 is powered by a larger 233 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that generates 17.5 bhp and 18.3 Nm of torque. It has a six-speed transmission system. In contrast, the XPulse 200 is powered by a 199.6 cc, air-cooled engine that produces a higher output of 18.9 bhp, although it produces slightly less torque at 17.35 Nm. This model uses a 5-speed gearbox.

The KLX 230 has a steel perimeter frame, recognized for better performance in off-road conditions compared to the XPulse's diamond-type chassis. Both motorcycles are equipped with telescopic forks and a monoshock; However, unlike the XPulse's 250mm front and 220mm rear travel, the KLX offers more suspension travel, measuring 240mm at the front and 250mm at the rear. Regarding the braking system, the XPulse is equipped with a larger 276 mm front disc brake, while the KLX has a 265 mm disc. Rear rotor size remains constant at 220 mm for both models.

Bookings for the new Kawasaki KLX 230 have now nominally started in India 5,000, while the launch will take place sometime in December, possibly at India Bike Week 2024.
The new Kawasaki KLX 230 has been unveiled for the Indian market. The dual-sport motorcycle is now being locally assembled in India and is set to bring a new motorcycle flavor to the market. Bookings for the new Kawasaki KLX 230 have now nominally started in India 5,000, while the launch will take place sometime in December, possibly at India Bike Week 2024. Deliveries will begin early next year.

The 2025 Kawasaki KLX 230 features a functional design language with minimal body panels, aimed at keeping the weight on the bike light and less external damage. The dual sport machine gets a small LED headlight with a cowl, a high-mounted mudguard, a small fuel tank and a short tail section. Seat height is a tall 880 mm, but you do get the option of a lower seat height with the bike.

2025 Kawasaki KLX 230 Engine Specifications
The locally assembled Kawasaki KLX 230 is powered by a 233 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that produces 18.1 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 18.3 Nm at 6,400 rpm. The motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike promises to provide good low-end and mid-range grunt while ensuring a smooth ride at higher speeds. Note that the KLX 230 weighs just 139 kg (kerb), which should make it quick and easy to maneuver off-road.
The KLX 230 Dual Sport is underpinned by a tubular steel frame and uses a 37 mm telescopic fork at the front with 240 mm of travel. At the rear there is a preload adjustable link-type monoshock with 250 mm of travel. The bike rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels shod with locally sourced MRF tyres. Ground clearance is 265 mm, making trail riding easy.
Braking performance comes from a 265 mm disc brake at the front and a 220 mm disc at the rear. The bike comes with switchable ABS, so you can switch off the rear mechanism to have some fun while going off-road. The Kawasaki KLX 230 is road-legal, which means it gets all the necessary headlamps and indicators as well as a fully digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity.
2025 Kawasaki KLX 230 Rivals
The new Kawasaki KLX 230 is a dedicated dual sport machine that differentiates itself from most off-roaders available in the country. This bike will be available in two colors – Lime Green and Battle Grey. In terms of competition, it will compete with Hero XPulse 200 4V.

Kawasaki has unveiled the new 2024 Ninja ZX-10RR Winter Test Edition in the global market. It comes with a new unique livery that is developed by the World Superbike Kawasaki Racing Team (KRT). The inspiration for the new livery comes from the 2024 WSBK KRT Ninja Winter Test bike. The manufacturer will only be making 25 units of the Winter Edition.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR Winter Edition comes with a black and grey colour scheme with neon yellow body graphics. There is a nice snowflake logo on the fairing of the motorcycle and there is also a numbered plate on the tank protector that denotes which unit the motorcycle is out of 25.
Apart from this, the motorcycle also gets mechanical upgrades such as an Akrapovic exhaust system to enhance its performance. Owners of these exclusive motorcycles will also get two-person VIP access to any WSBK round of their choosing. This will include access to the paddock and KRT hospitality.Kawasaki will also offer a guided tour of KRT Box and a meet-up with the racers – Axel Bassani and Alex Lowes.
Powering the special edition motorcycle is the same 998 cc inline four-cylinder that is liquid-cooled. It is tuned to produce 214 bhp of max power. Features on offer are a full-colour TFT screen, cruise control, traction control, quickshifter, cornering management functions, Ohlins steering damper and a lot more.
As of now, there is no official word whether the motorcycle will be launched in the Indian market or not. In other news, the motorcycle recently unveiled the ZX-6R in the Indian market. They also launched the W175 Street in the Indian market. It is priced slightly higher than the W175.

We’ve put together the most exciting motorcycle launches that we can’t wait for in December 2023.
The Eliminator nameplate is all set to make a comeback to India with Kawasaki ready to introduce the Eliminator 450 later this month. The bike made its global debut earlier this year and gets the quintessential cruiser design with modern touches, while power will come from a 451 cc parallel-twin motor. The new Eliminator will debut at the India Bike Week 2023 scheduled on December 8-9, 2023.
2. Aprilia RS 457
The Aprilia RS 457 full-faired sportbike will be showcased at IBW 2023. Aprilia’s first made-in-India motorcycle holds a lot of promise, especially with its 457 cc parallel-twin motor churning out 47 bhp. Aprilia India could go a step further and announce prices at the motorcycle festival while also beginning to accept bookings.
3. 2024 Triumph Tiger 900 GT and Tiger 900 Rally Pro
The updated Triumph Tiger 900GT and Tiger 900 Rally Pro could also be unveiled at IBW 2023. The 2024 Tiger 900 range gets subtle upgrades to the powertrain for improvements in power and torque, along with a new TFT instrument console and more. Expect prices to start from ₹14 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Also on display will be Triumph’s new single-cylinder 400 twins.
4. Yamaha R3
Making a grand comeback to India will be the all-new Yamaha R3 on December 15, 2023. The motorcycle is all set to come here in a new generation and a completely new avatar over its predecessor. Power will come from the 321 cc parallel-twin motor and prices are expected to start around ₹4 lakh (ex-showroom).
5. Yamaha MT-03
Coming to India for the first time will be the Yamaha MT-03, the naked version based on the R3. Both bikes share the same 321 cc twin-cylinder engine but get the alien-face design language borrowed from Yamaha’s bigger streetfighter range. The MT-03 is expected to be priced from ₹3.70 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.

1. IBW 2023
Motorcycle enthusiasts have Asia’s largest biking festival to look forward to on December 8-9, 2023. To be held at Vagator, Goa, India Bike Week 2023 will see a host of new motorcycle launches, events, music concerts and more.
2. TVS MotoSoul
TVS Motor Company is also set to bring its biking and music festival MotoSoul to Goa on December 8-9. The event will be a celebration of the brand TVS and its two-wheelers, while owners can help themselves to some good food, participate in exciting events and groove to some foot-tapping music. Fun fact, IBW and MotoSoul venues are not too far from each other.
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R comes available in a single variant and there is only one colour on offer, which is the Metallic Spark Black. Like other models in Kawasaki India’s portfolio, this one too comes carrying the racing DNA. The manufacturer claims that the Ninja ZX-4R offers a handling character that is similar to its bigger siblings, the Ninja ZX-10R and Ninjz ZX-6R.
Powering the aggressive-looking sportsbike is a 399 cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke in-line four engine that is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. The engine is good at churning out 76 bhp peak power at 14,500 rpm, which can be increased to 79 bhp. The engine pumps out 39 Nm of torque at 13,000 rpm. This makes it the most powerful model in the 400 cc segment.
For suspension duty, it gets fully adjustable front forks and a rear shock absorber. Built on a high-tensile Trellis frame, the bike is equipped with dual 290 mm front disc brake and 220 mm rear disc brake, paired with dual-channel ABS. It runs on 17-inch alloy wheels.
The bike gets a sharp and sculpted look and features design elements like dual all-LED headlamps and Ninja ZX-10R-inspired taillight. The turn indicators too come as LED units. It comes with a fully digital instrument cluster, and integrated riding modes, which are – Sport, Road, Rain or Rider. Kawasaki claims that these different modes make it simple to select a level of traction control and power mode to suit the riding conditions.
