Kawasaki recently introduced the much-awaited KLX 230 dual-sport motorcycle in India. Looking at its engine displacement and intended use, the KLX positions itself as a competitor to the famous Hero XPulse 200 4V. As we await official pricing details from Kawasaki for this new model, it is relevant to check how it compares to Hero's compact adventure motorcycles.

The KLX 230 gets a proper dual-sport look with its slim design, tall seat height, slim headlamp design and beak-like front mudguard. Then there is the XPulse 200 4V which comes with an LED headlamp, a beak-like front mudguard, knuckle guards and LED daytime running lamps. Overall, the XPulse 200 4V looks like an off-roader.

The KLX 230 is powered by a larger 233 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that generates 17.5 bhp and 18.3 Nm of torque. It has a six-speed transmission system. In contrast, the XPulse 200 is powered by a 199.6 cc, air-cooled engine that produces a higher output of 18.9 bhp, although it produces slightly less torque at 17.35 Nm. This model uses a 5-speed gearbox.

The KLX 230 has a steel perimeter frame, recognized for better performance in off-road conditions compared to the XPulse's diamond-type chassis. Both motorcycles are equipped with telescopic forks and a monoshock; However, unlike the XPulse's 250mm front and 220mm rear travel, the KLX offers more suspension travel, measuring 240mm at the front and 250mm at the rear. Regarding the braking system, the XPulse is equipped with a larger 276 mm front disc brake, while the KLX has a 265 mm disc. Rear rotor size remains constant at 220 mm for both models.

The 2025 Kawasaki KLX 230 is locally assembled in India and will be launched in December and deliveries will begin early next year.

The new Kawasaki KLX 230 has been unveiled for the Indian market. The dual-sport motorcycle is now being locally assembled in India and is set to bring a new motorcycle flavor to the market. Bookings for the new Kawasaki KLX 230 have now nominally started in India 5,000, while the launch will take place sometime in December, possibly at India Bike Week 2024. Deliveries will begin early next year.

The 2025 Kawasaki KLX 230 features a functional design language with minimal body panels, aimed at keeping the weight on the bike light and less external damage. The dual sport machine gets a small LED headlight with a cowl, a high-mounted mudguard, a small fuel tank and a short tail section. Seat height is a tall 880 mm, but you do get the option of a lower seat height with the bike.

The locally assembled Kawasaki KLX 230 is powered by a 233 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that produces 18.1 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 18.3 Nm at 6,400 rpm. The motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike promises to provide good low-end and mid-range grunt while ensuring a smooth ride at higher speeds. Note that the KLX 230 weighs just 139 kg (kerb), which should make it quick and easy to maneuver off-road.

The KLX 230 Dual Sport is underpinned by a tubular steel frame and uses a 37 mm telescopic fork at the front with 240 mm of travel. At the rear there is a preload adjustable link-type monoshock with 250 mm of travel. The bike rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels shod with locally sourced MRF tyres. Ground clearance is 265 mm, making trail riding easy.

Braking performance comes from a 265 mm disc brake at the front and a 220 mm disc at the rear. The bike comes with switchable ABS, so you can switch off the rear mechanism to have some fun while going off-road. The Kawasaki KLX 230 is road-legal, which means it gets all the necessary headlamps and indicators as well as a fully digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R to be launched in India tomorrow

First launch of the year, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R has received a host of upgrades since the last time this model was on sale in India.

India Kawasaki Motor is all set to introduce the Ninja ZX-6R full-faired motorcycle in the country tomorrow, January 1, 2024. The first launch of the year, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R was showcased at India Bike Week 2023 earlier this month and has received a host of upgrades since the last time this model was on sale in India.

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R has seen plenty of upgrades internationally over the years. The MY2024 version will arrive in India with a revised bodywork that’s identical to the one found in the recently launched Ninja ZX-4R. The split LED headlamps are sharper and the bike comes with clip-on handlebars for a more dedicated riding posture. The bike has also been updated with a TFT screen that now gets Bluetooth connectivity.

Kawasaki ZX-6R uses a 636 cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four-cylinder engine tuned for 128 bhp and 69 Nm of peak torque

Power continues to come from the 636 cc inline-four engine engine that is now Euro5 compliant. The motor has been tuned to produce 128 bhp and 69 Nm of peak torque and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a quickshifter. Other mechanicals have been carried over including the Showa USD front forks and a monoshock at the rear. Braking performance comes from dual 310 mm discs at the front and a single 220 mm disc at the rear. The bike will come shod with 17-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli Diablo Rosso 4 tyres.

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R will take on the Aprilia RS 660 upon arrival and prices should be around 12 lakh (ex-showroom). The motorcycle makes for a fantastic bridge between the Ninja 400 and the top-spec Ninja ZX-10RR, keeping the track enthusiasts entertained. The bike is expected to soon face the heat from the Yamaha R7, also slated for arrival in 2024 in India.
