New Delhi. Kia India has started preparations to launch its new SUV Ciros in the Indian market. According to reports, the company has also started offline booking of this car at some dealerships. The Ciros will be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos in Kia's existing portfolio, making it an attractive option for mid-segment SUV buyers.
Kia Ciros will be introduced in the global market on December 19. After this, this SUV will be presented to the public for the first time at the Bharat Mobility Show to be held in January. According to media reports, its starting ex-showroom price can be around Rs 9 lakh. Deliveries are likely to begin in late January or early February next year.
Multiple engine and transmission options
In terms of performance, this SUV will be offered with multiple engine and transmission options like the Sonet. The entry-level variant is expected to get a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which will generate 82bhp power and 115Nm torque. It will be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Apart from this, the option of 1-litre turbo petrol engine will also be available, which will give power of 118bhp and torque of 172Nm. With this engine, the option of 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and 6-speed clutchless manual transmission will be available.
For diesel engine lovers, there will be an option of 1.5-litre engine, which will generate power of 114bhp and torque of 250Nm. This engine will come with 6-speed clutchless manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Who will compete?
The interesting thing is that currently the Kia Ciros does not have direct competition with any other SUV in the Indian market. It has been specially designed for those customers who want a car with strong features and performance at an affordable price.
How much this new offering from Kia India will create a stir in the market will be known only after its launch and sales begin. At present, tremendous enthusiasm is being seen among the customers regarding this SUV.
