New Delhi. BYD or Build Your Dreams, the world's largest New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, has achieved success in the Asian subcontinent through its subsidiary BYD India. The company's latest launch in India is Sealion 7, which was launched in Jaipur, Rajasthan earlier this year. BYD Sealion 7 has achieved a big milestone in the country as it recently crossed the 2,000 units mark. The deliveries of Sealion 7 started in early March 2025 and in just 8 months, BYD Sealion has achieved this sales milestone. BYD India has also announced to increase the price of Sealion 7 from January 1, 2026. Let's take a closer look at these changes.
Sale started in February
BYD Sealion 7 sales Launched in February 2025, BYD Sealion 7 has attracted Indian luxury SUV buyers with its design, luxurious interiors and features. With deliveries starting from March 2025, BYD India has sold more than 2,000 units of Sealion 7 in the country in these 8 months. This is an average of around 250 units per month, which is not bad for a CBU vehicle.
Launch via CBU route
The Sealion 7 has been launched in India via the CBU route and is likely to be the Euro-spec version, promoted with a 5 star Euro NCAP crash safety rating. BYD India can bring around 2,500 units to India every year without homologation and the Sealion 7 is fulfilling this quota very well. BYD is currently running about 47 showrooms in 40 big cities of the country.
Price increase from January 1, 2026
This luxury electric SUV competes with its rivals like Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and Volvo EX40 etc. Currently, the BYD Sealion 7 is priced at Rs 48.9 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base Premium trim, which gets a single-motor RWD configuration, and Rs 54.9 lakh for the high-spec Performance trim, which gets a dual-motor AWD configuration. BYD India has announced to increase the price of Sealion 7 from January 1, 2026. All buyers who have already booked or will book before December 31, 2025, will get the Sealion 7 at the current price, and the increased prices will be applicable after January 1, 2026. Exact new prices will be announced in the future.
82.56 kWh battery pack
The Sealion 7 gets a large 82.56 kWh battery pack as standard and it claims to give a range of around 567 km on a single charge. The Sealion 7 in the high-spec Performance trim produces 523 bhp of peak power and 690 Nm of peak torque with dual-motor AWD configuration. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
