New Delhi. Mahindra has started booking its new SUVs, XEV 9S and XUV 7XO. Both these models have received a total of 93,689 bookings so far, whose total value is more than Rs 20,500 crore (as per ex-showroom price) till 2 pm on January 14, 2026. With these launches, Mahindra is further strengthening its role in shaping the Indian SUV market. The XEV 9S and XUV 7XO expand the company's portfolio, offering customers electric, petrol and diesel options. These models have been created keeping in mind different driving needs and preferences, and also showcase Mahindra's innovation and manufacturing capabilities.

3 battery options
If we talk about details, Mahindra XEV 9S has three battery pack options: 59 kWh, 70 kWh and 79 kWh. The 59 kWh battery delivers a peak power of 170 kW, the 70 kWh battery delivers a claimed power of 180 kW, while the 79 kWh battery claims to deliver a peak power of 210 kW. Mahindra It also has a large boot of 527 liters and best-in-class trunk space of 150 litres, providing ample space for every journey. 50:50 split seats have been provided in the third row, which makes it even more convenient for the family.

2.2-litre diesel engine
Mahindra XEV 9S prices start at Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 29.45 lakh (ex-showroom). At the same time, powertrain options are available in Mahindra Both engines come with a choice of 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox, providing flexibility for different driving preferences.

Ventilate Seats
Mahindra has also given many advanced features in this SUV. A 540-degree camera system improves visibility, while ventilated seats have been provided for the first and second rows. Tata Motors secured the third position with 5.52 lakh units in 2025. The company made a tremendous comeback in the fourth quarter due to Curve and updated Nexon. Although Tata has a strong hold in the EV segment, the growth of internal combustion engine vehicles lagged behind Mahindra's double digit growth, which clearly shows the changing direction of the market. At the same time, Hyundai slipped to fourth place with sales of 5.50 lakh units in 2025.

This limited model is available in two variants – FE2 and FE3 – with a starting price of Rs 23.69 lakh (ex-showroom). Electric XUV 3XO: Platform and battery options
The upcoming electric XUV 3XO will be built on the basic platform of the existing XUV400 EV, which is currently priced between Rs 15.49 lakh and Rs 17.69 lakh. The XUV400 gets two battery options: a 34.5 kWh pack, which gives a range of 375 km on a single charge, and a 39.4 kWh pack, which has a claimed range of 456 km. Both the variants have a single electric motor, which gives about 150 PS power and 310 Nm torque. Talking about the exterior design, the look of the XUV 3XO EV will be similar to the petrol-diesel 3XO, which will get a new front grille, revised bumper and sharp LED lighting signature. The EV version will have special features like blanked off grille, aero optimized alloy wheels and charging port on the left front fender.

Positioning in Mahindra's EV line-up
The XUV 3XO EV will be Mahindra's entry-level electric SUV, slotted below the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Both of them are based on the INGLO electric platform, while the 3XO EV and XUV400 are built on the modified platform of petrol-diesel variants. Mahindra is testing the XUV 3XO EV on public roads with light camouflage, which seems to indicate that its development has progressed significantly. It is expected that it will be launched before the end of the current financial year. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki is also preparing to launch its first electric SUV eVX, which will compete in the compact and midsize electric SUV segment.

From compact SUV to compact EV
The combined performance of the XUV300 and XUV 3XO clearly shows how buyer preferences have changed in the compact SUV segment.
