New Delhi. Mahindra had launched Thar Roxx in the Indian market only last month. Now the company has informed about receiving huge bookings for this SUV. The company started the booking of Thar Roxx, the 5 door model of its popular Thar SUV, on October 2. Within just an hour of the start of booking, 1,76,218 units of this new SUV of the company were booked. According to the information, the company can start the delivery of SUV on the day of Dussehra.

The five-door Mahindra Thar Rocks is available in six variants – MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L and AX7L. The price of its RWD variant starts from Rs 12.99 lakh and the price of 4×4 version starts from Rs 18.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The RWD variant is offered with both petrol and diesel engines, while the 4×4 comes only with the diesel engine.

Unique design is attracting
The Thar Rocks is not just a bigger version of the Thar, but it is also more premium than its three-door counterpart and comes with updated design both inside and out. Talking about design, it includes a new 6-slat grille, 19-inch alloy wheels and LED lighting elements. The interior gets a dual-tone black and white cabin theme with white leatherette seat upholstery. The option of mocha brown cabin theme with brown seat upholstery is also available.

Thar Rocks also has updated features
Mahindra has equipped the Thar Rocks with premium features like dual 10.25-inch screens (infotainment and digital driver display), panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger and ventilated front seats. For passenger safety, it has been provided with six airbags (standard), 360-degree camera and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and autonomous emergency braking.

More powerful engine options
It comes with two engine options which include a 2-litre mStallion turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Both are available with manual and automatic transmission options. The option of 6 speed manual and automatic gearbox is available with both engines.

price and rivals
Mahindra Thar Rocks is priced between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 22.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with compact SUVs like Maruti Jimny and Force Gurkha 5-door as well as Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Booking of Mahindra Thar Roxx is going to start on 3 October. At the same time, its delivery is expected to start from October 12.

Mahindra Thar Rocks is an upgrade of the standard model of Thar and comes with 5-seats. The company has introduced it in both 2 and 4 wheel drive options. The price of Thar Rocks starts at Rs 12.99 lakh, with the entry-level diesel model priced at Rs 13.99 lakh. The rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant of Thar Rocks is priced at Rs 20.49 lakh. All prices are based on ex-showroom, Delhi. In the Indian market, it competes directly with Maruti Jimny. However, it will also compete with the upcoming Force Gurkha 5-seater.

Excellent in design and features
In Thar Rocks, the company has provided circular LED DRLs, projector headlamps, circular fog lights, new multi-slat grille and fender-mounted ORVMs. The SUV has been presented in a boxy design as before. Apart from this, it has dual-tone alloy wheels, black-coloured front door handles, front camera, body-coloured rear door handles mounted on the C-pillar, square LED taillights and faux skid plates.

Some of its key features include panoramic sunroof (single pan unit for mid-spec variants), large touchscreen unit, dual-zone climate control, ADAS safety suite, ventilated front seats, cruise control, automatic climate control and many more.

Petrol engine with diesel option
The Thar Rocks is powered by Mahindra's 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engines, which could come with six-speed manual and torque converter automatic gearboxes. Apart from rivals like the Force Gurkha five-door, the Thar Rocks will also compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
