Mahindra came out 'Dhurandhar' in December! Sold record breaking cars, Tata-Hyundai kept watching the show

New Delhi. Mahindra & Mahindra recorded excellent sales in the domestic market in the last month of 2025. During this period, sales of passenger vehicles stood at 50,946 units, which is 23 percent more than in December 2024. Last year in the same month the company had delivered 41,424 units. However, there has been a slight decline in sales (56,336 units) compared to November 2025. Demand for SUVs like Scorpio range, Thar, XUV700, XUV3XO and Bolero range remained consistent, which also contributed to better supply and favorable taxation. Total sales of passenger vehicles during April to December FY26 stood at 4,76,476 units, whereas in the same period last year this figure was 4,02,360 units, i.e. an increase of 18 percent on an annual basis.

Company in strong position in the segment
It is clear from the continuous demand for SUVs that Mahindra is in a strong position in those segments where buyers' preferences are inclined towards high ground clearance, powerful looks and multiple powertrain options. Mahindra's results in commercial vehicles were mixed. Sales of light commercial vehicles weighing less than two tonnes stood at 2,720 units in December, which is 13 percent more than last year.

4% decline in this segment
However, sales in this category have declined by 4 percent since the beginning of the year. The company performed brilliantly in the LCV segment between two tonnes to three and a half tonnes. Sales of this segment increased by 37 percent to 22,066 units in December, while total sales in FY26 so far increased by 16 percent to 1,85,012 units. Three-wheelers, including electric vehicles, also performed well.

Sales increased by 31%
Mahindra sold 7,538 units last month, which is 31 percent more on an annual basis. In the current financial year, three-wheeler sales have increased by 28 percent to 82,446 units. Talking about the passenger vehicle range, the entry of XEV 9e and BE 6 as well as updated three-door Thar, Bolero and Bolero Neo will increase the total sales in 2025. The domestic company has achieved the second position in terms of sales, after Maruti Suzuki. This time, Mahindra has achieved the runner-up position in annual sales for the first time, leaving behind Tata Motors and Hyundai. Maintaining this momentum, Mahindra is preparing to further expand its SUV range in 2026. XUV 7XO will be launched on January 5. After this, many new and updated models will be introduced in different segments throughout the year.

Planning to buy a new car? Don't buy these 3 very popular SUVs this year, this is the reason

Planning to buy a new car? Don't buy these 3 very popular SUVs this year, this is the reason

New Delhi. The year 2025 is about to end and potential buyers will try to buy their favorite car before the beginning of the new year. Why? Because many automobile companies are going to increase the prices of most of their cars from the beginning of 2026. In such a situation, you can buy your favorite SUV this month. However, we would advise you to avoid buying these 3 most popular SUVs for the next few months. Why? Let us tell.

tata punch
Tata Punch Trust me, we wouldn't recommend you buying one of India's best-selling SUVs, the Tata Punch, for the next few months. On-road prices in Mumbai range between Rs 6.39 lakh to Rs 10.63 lakh. Punch has also made a dent in the sales of popular cars like Maruti Wagon R. In this price range, Punch offers excellent value for money to the customers. It is packed with features and despite being an entry-level compact car, it offers a high seating driving experience. Also, this is one of those Tata SUVs which faces almost no major issues. Then why are we advising you not to buy such a great car?

Why not buy?
Actually, Punch is a great package, but Tata Motors may launch an even better version of it in early 2026. We hope that the facelift version of Tata Punch will be launched by February 2026. With the facelift, a new design will be seen in the exterior and interior of the SUV. If you liked the design of Punch.ev and want the same look in the petrol version, then wait for a few months. The design of Punch facelift will be similar to the EV version. Features like 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 2-spoke steering wheel and touch-based AC control can also be found in the interior.

scorpio n
Scorpio N The next SUV that we recommend you buy is Mahindra's best selling SUV – Scorpio N. This SUV is so powerful that you can forget about a car like Fortuner, but still would not recommend buying it in 2025. Why? Because like the Punch facelift, major changes are going to come in Scorpio N too. The SUV has been spotted testing several times and its launch may take place around February 2026. But if you wait for a few months, what new will you get in the SUV?

Why not buy?
With the facelift, the front profile of the Scorpio N may become even more aggressive, which will include new headlamps, grille and bumper. At the same time, changes can also be seen in the interior, especially in the dashboard, which will now get a floating 10.25 inch touchscreen system. Apart from this, features like Harman Kardon sound system, panoramic sunroof and new interior color theme can also be added.

Mahindra XUV 700
The next name in this list is another popular SUV of Mahindra – XUV. Ever since it was launched in 2021, this SUV has taken the Indian auto market by storm due to its advanced technology. Even today it is the best selling SUV in its segment. Then why are we advising you to ignore such a wonderful car? The reason is – Mahindra XUV 7XO.

Why not buy?
Mahindra XUV 7XO is not a separate product, but an advanced version of the XUV700. XUV700 has been renamed as XUV 7XO, which is scheduled to be launched on January 5, 2026. But why should you wait for the XUV 7XO? Actually, while converting XUV700 into XUV 7XO, Mahindra has made major changes in the design of the SUV. According to teasers and spy shots, the SUV will get new headlamps, new front grille, new taillamps and redesigned bumpers. This will make the SUV look more stylish than before. At the same time, there will be changes in the interior and new features like – triple screen layout, Harmon Kardon sound system, powered co-driver seat, ventilated second row seats and many more will be available.

Last Updated:

Mahindra & Mahindra is bringing major changes in its Thar, Scorpio and XUV700, new electric SUV like XEV 9S has been launched and XUV 7XO is coming soon. Mahindra is currently counted among the most popular car maker companies of India. The company's portfolio includes many models in petrol and EV versions.

New Delhi. Mahindra & Mahindra is once again focusing on those SUVs which made a strong mark for it in the Indian market. The company is preparing major changes for its most popular models – Thar, Scorpio and XUV700. Electrification has been made central to Mahindra's long-term plans and recently the company launched the XEV 9S, which is the first 3-row electric SUV inspired by the XUV.e8 concept. Sitting close to the XEV 9e and BE 6 in the brand's EV portfolio, the XEV 9S carries forward the recognizable design language of the XUV700. XUV700 is ready for major changes even in models with internal combustion engine. Its new version will be launched next month with the name of XUV 7XO and its booking has already started.

no change in size
The size of the SUV will remain the same, but some important changes will be made in its exterior. The real change will be seen in its interiors, where Mahindra is designing a completely new dashboard, which will have a large triple-screen setup like the XEV 9S. Apart from this, cabin themes, trims and material quality will also be improved and many new features will be added.

Mahindra's lifestyle SUV
Thar is also going to step into the electric era. The electric version of the five-door Thar Rocks was shown through the Vision T concept, which retains the boxy design and powerful looks, but adds futuristic EV design elements. The new Thar EV built on NU_IQ architecture will have multiple battery pack options and dual-motor setup, which will provide four-wheel drive.

Mahindra Scorpio
There is going to be a big change in the Scorpio series also. Mahindra's Vision S concept gave a glimpse of a more premium and compact Scorpio N, which will be built away from the traditional ladder-frame construction. The upcoming Scorpio will be based on NU_IQ platform. Although it has been seen testing several times, the new compact Scorpio is expected to be launched only in late 2026 or early 2027. Meanwhile, the current Scorpio N will also get a mid-life update in the next few months, which will bring minor cosmetic changes and has already been spotted road testing.
