The weight of the current generation Alto K10 is 680 kg. After reducing the weight by 100 kg, its curb weight will be around 578 kg, which will make the car more mileage efficient.

After reducing the weight, this car will come at par with its original model launched in 1970. The aim of this move by Maruti is to bring smaller and more efficient engines in budget cars. New Alto will get mileage of 30Kmpl
The company is planning to use this engine in future models like WagonR, Baleno, Franck and Dezire. The company is also preparing biofuel and biogas versions of this engine.
