New Delhi. The name of Maruti Suzuki's much awaited new SUV, which is scheduled to be launched on 3 September 2025, has been leaked online before the official announcement. The SUV, which was given the Y17 codename internally, was still known as Maruti Escudo. Now its official name has been revealed. Its name is being described as Victoris. This leak has surfaced from the official website of Maruti Suzuki, where the name was seen in the brief in the name Google search results, which has confirmed the identity of the brand's latest compact SUV.

Victoris, planned for sale via Maruti's Arena dealerships located between Brezza and Grand Vitara, will be placed between Brezza and Grand Vitara in the company's SUV lineup. The model is based on the Global-C platform of Suzuki, the same architecture used in the Grand Vitara. Platform-sharing is expected to reduce the production cost, while Victoris will be allowed to advance several features already on the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyder.

Dimsions

In dimensions, the Victoris Grand Vitara is expected to be slightly longer than the 4,345 mm length. With this, it will be placed directly against rivals such as Hyundai Creta (4,330 mm) and Kia Celtose (4,365 mm). The upcoming 2026 Karma is with rivals such as Celtose facelift, Skoda Kushak facelift and Volkswagen Tigun facelift, Victoris will have to look different with space, features and pricing.

Powertrain option
Maruti Victoris will borrow from its engine Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyper. These include a 1.5-liter natural aspirated petrol engine that generates 103 PS and 139 Nm, which will be introduced with a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox, with optional Suzuki allgrip AWD. The 1.5-liter Strong Hybrid Povertrain will also be available, which will have 115.5 PS joint output and E-CVT gearbox. To further increase its appeal, Victoris will come up with a CNG variant, which will offer 88 PS in CNG mode.

This model has been given the Y17 codename and is currently known as 'Maruti Escudo'. However, at the time of launch, the SUV will debut with a new name. This new Maruti SUV will be sold through the Brand's Arena dealership network and will compete with midsize SUVs like Hyundai Creta.

Brezza and vitara price
The new Maruti Escudo company's product lineup will be placed between Brezza and Grand Vitara. Since the price difference between these two models is low, Escudo prices are expected to be overlap with both. Currently, the prices of Maruti Brezza and Grand Vitara are available between Rs 8.69 lakh – Rs 14.14 lakh and Rs 11.42 lakh – Rs 20.68 lakh respectively.

Price production

With its new midsize SUV, Maruti Suzuki wants to attract the budget sensitive buyers, while the design, features and competition offers a good value to money in terms of compatible pricing. Escudo's entry-level variant is expected to cost around Rs 9 lakh or Rs 10 lakh, while the top-spec strong hybrid variant is expected to be priced at around Rs 18 lakh or Rs 19 lakh.

Three engine options
Petrol, Hybrid and CNG Maruti Escudo are likely to have three engine options borrowed from Grand Vitara – 1.5L K15C Petrol, 1.5L Atkinson Cycle Strong Hybrid and a CNG variant. Hybrid configuration will be introduced with high trims.

Segment-first features
Segment-first features According to media reports, Escudo will be the first car of Maruti Suzuki with an underbody CNG kit, which will increase boot space. It will also become the first Maruti to offer a powered tailgate and 4WD (four-wheel drive) system with Level-2 ADAS and Dolby Atmos technology. Other features are expected to be like Grand Vitara.
