Enough waiting! Maruti's first electric car coming after 20 days

New Delhi. The Maruti Suzuki E Vitara electric SUV was first showcased as an EVX concept at the 2023 Auto Expo, followed by its production-ready debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. This new EV will be launched directly against Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE6, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Tata Sierra EV. According to the latest media report, Maruti E Vitara will be available for sale in India on December 2, 2025.

The India-spec E Vitara is likely to have similar battery options and specifications as the global variant. This means that this EV will come with two battery packs – 49kWh and 61kWh – which will be paired with the electric motor fitted on the front XL. The larger 61kWh battery variant will also be available with dual motor setup and all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

Range
The 49kWh FWD variant will produce maximum power of 144bhp and offer a claimed range of 344km per charge. The 61kWh FWD variant will offer 174bhp power and a driving range of 428km, while the same battery pack with the AWD setup will offer 184bhp power and a range of 394km. Initially, the E Vitara may be available only with a single motor configuration. A dual motor variant may join the lineup later.

design elements
The production-ready Maruti E Vitara retains most of the design elements of the EVX concept, such as tri-slash LED DRLs at the front and rear, sporty 225/50 R19 tires (only with the AWD variant), charging ports on the front flanks, prominent wheel arches and C-pillar-mounted rear door handles.

Dimensions
The new Maruti electric SUV measures 4,275mm in length, 1,800mm in width and 1,635mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,700mm. Its ground clearance is 180mm and its curb weight ranges from 1,702kg to 1,899kg (depending on the variant).

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker, is on the verge of its most significant transformation into electric mobility. Maruti Suzuki E Vitara Scheduled to make its domestic debut on 2 December 2025 Maruti Suzuki India Limited's first fully battery-electric vehicle (BEV) for the Indian market. Although the date is now confirmed, the real challenge will be to translate that launch into real market relevance.

The small 49 kWh pack has a WLTP range of up to 344 km and is available with a front-wheel drive setup that produces 142 bhp and 193 Nm of torque. The larger 61 kWh pack is available in FWD and AWD variants. While the FWD variant offers a WLTP range of up to 426 km, from an electric motor that outputs 171bhp and 193 Nm, the AWD variant bumps the power output to 181 bhp and 307 Nm of torque, for a range of up to 395 km. Price-wise, early reports are around the starting range 20 lakh ex-showroom for the Indian market.

Maruti Suzuki E Vitara presents a modern and premium design with LED projector headlights, Y-shaped LED daytime running lights and front fog lamps. Since it is an electric vehicle, it does not require any conventional radiator grille. The side profile features black cladding and 18-inch aerodynamically optimized alloy wheels. At the rear, it has a black bumper, three-piece LED taillights connected by a glossy black strip.

Maruti Suzuki E Vitara: Interior and features

Inside, the E Vitara is equipped with a dual-spoke steering wheel and a dual-screen dashboard setup. It includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Other interior features include rectangular AC vents, an auto-dimming IRVM, semi-leatherette seats, an electronic parking brake and a wireless phone charger. Additional features include a panoramic sunroof, 10-way adjustable driver's seat and ventilated front seats. The vehicle comes standard with seven airbags, 360-degree surround view camera and ADAS technology.
