New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced that Fronx has become the fastest SUV in India which has made 1 lakh units in outside markets. This milestone was achieved in just 25 months. This model is specially manufactured in the company's Gujarat plant. After launching in India in April 2023, Fronx exports started in markets like Latin America, Middle East and Africa the same year.

Maruti's focus on global market
On this achievement, Maruti Suzuki India Limited Managing Director and CEO, Hisashi Takeuchi said, “Maruti Suzuki's ability to create global models for global markets is the result of 'Make in India' initiative. Our new meditation on international markets has been significant for the continuous leadership in Maruti Suzuki's passenger vehicle export. In addition to 1 lakh exports, India's number 1 exported passenger vehicle was also in Fronx FY 2024-25. ”

Export in 100 countries

In Q1 FY26, Maruti Suzuki registered over 96,000 passenger vehicles (PV), with 47% market share in exports. This is the fourth consecutive time the company has won the number 1 PV title in the country. The FY25 was a record year for the automobile manufacturer as it exported 3.3 lakh units. This was a big jump of 17.5% from the last financial year. Maruti Suzuki exports 17 vehicles to about 100 countries, and top export vehicles are Fronx, Swift, Jimney, Baleno and Desire.

Engine and power
Fronx falls under Maruti Suzuki's premium brand, Nexa, and currently it is the only vehicle in lineup that provides Turbo Petrol Engine. The SUV comes with two petrol engines-1.2-liter naturally aspirated and 1-liter turbo. Apart from this, it is also available in CNG. NA Povertrain makes 88.5 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm at 4,400 rpm. On the other hand, Turbo has 98.6 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 147.6 Nm at 2000-4500 rpm. The price of the standard version starts at Rs 8.90 lakh, while the price of turbo starts from Rs 11.98 lakh, ex-showroom.

The 3 millionth unit to complete this historic figure was part of a batch of 1,053 cars which included popular models like Celerio, FrontX, Baleno, Ciaz, Dezire and S-Presso.

The journey started in 1986
Maruti Suzuki started its export campaign in 1986. At that time the company had sent the first batch to Hungary, which had a total of 500 units. After this, the company crossed the first export mark of 10 lakh units in the year 2012-13. The next milestone of 10 lakh units was achieved in 2020-21. At the same time, the most recent figure of 10 lakh units was touched by the company in just 3 years and 9 months, which shows the rapid export growth of Maruti Suzuki.

Company Achievements and Expansion
Hisashi Takeuchi, MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, expressed happiness over this success. He said that the policies and trade agreements of the Government of India have given the company an opportunity to perform better in exports.

Maruti Suzuki currently exports its vehicles to markets in Africa, Asia, Latin America and West Asia. The company's models are especially popular in countries like South Africa, Saudi Arabia and Chile, where they are sold under the Suzuki brand.

Demand for Grand Vitara and Jimny also increased
The company has also recently included some of its new models like Grand Vitara and Jimny in the export list. Apart from this, Suzuki has started shipping its new offering Fronx crossover SUV in markets like Japan.

future plans
Maruti Suzuki has increased its exports three times in four years. This success reflects the company's ever-increasing global demand. The company has announced that it is working on a plan to increase its exports to 7.5 lakh units per year by 2030-31. This achievement of Maruti Suzuki shows its strength and growing influence not only in India but also in the global markets.
