MG Motor India has launched the latest facelift of the Hector, which is the third major update for the SUV since its debut in 2019. Priced at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom) under introductory offer, the updated Hector aims to remain relevant in the mid-size SUV segment that has become more crowded and competitive over the years. But how different is the new Hector from the existing model? Here's a detailed look at what's really new and what's familiar.

MG Hector new vs old: design

front styling

The biggest difference between the new and old Hector is visible in the front. The facelift introduces a new 'Aura Hex' grille that retains the same overall shape but swaps the earlier diamond-mesh pattern for a vertical hexagonal design. The chrome detailing around the front air dam has also been revised, making the face of the SUV a bit sharper.

Comparatively, the old Hector already had a strong road presence and the new model builds on that rather than changing direction.

side profile

From the side, there is nothing to tell the two apart. The silhouette, proportions and body lines are unchanged. The only update here is a new design for the 18-inch alloy wheels, which are the same size as before but feature a refreshed pattern.

back design

At the rear, MG has updated the LED tail-lamp cluster and reworked the bumper. While these changes freshen up the look, the overall design language remains in line with the old model.

Colour

Two new colors have been introduced in it, namely Celadon Blue and Pearl White. Previously, the SUV did not have a blue option, and the white color option was available as Candy White. The SUV is also offered in Aurora Silver, Glaze Red and Starry Black shades.

MG Hector new vs old: Interior

Step inside the new Hector, and the layout will immediately feel familiar. MG has retained the dashboard design, which continues to be dominated by the large 14-inch vertically oriented touchscreen infotainment system. The 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster also remains unchanged.

The Hector facelift brings eye-swipe gesture controls for the 14-inch vertical infotainment which has been carried over from the previous version.

What's new is the finer details. MG has revised the upholstery and interior color theme, giving the cabin a slightly refreshed ambiance. There are also updates to the infotainment software, which are aimed at improving usability and features rather than completely replacing the system. The cabin of the old Hector already feels modern, and this update is more about a refresh rather than a makeover to keep the SUV from looking dated.

MG Hector New vs Old: Features and Technology

Hector has always been positioned as a tech-heavy SUV, and this continues with the facelift as well. The panoramic sunroof and large touchscreen, features that made the Hector stand out when it was launched in 2019, remain the main attractions. The latest update doesn't introduce major new hardware features, instead focusing on software-level enhancements and cosmetic improvements, unlike the more significant 2023 facelift, which expanded both styling and equipment.

MG Hector new vs old: Powertrain

Mechanically there is no difference between the new and old Hector. Engine options are the same, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol that produces around 139 bhp and 250 Nm, available with a 6-speed manual or CVT. The second unit is a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel that produces around 165 bhp and 350 Nm, offered only with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

For buyers expecting better performance or electrification, the facelift brings no surprises. The focus here is clearly on design and features rather than mechanical upgrades.

MG Hector new vs old: variants and price

Five-seat Hector facelift debuts here The Style variant with petrol manual is priced at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). range top The price of Savvy Pro Petrol CVT is Rs 18.09 lakh.

Seven-seat Hector Plus available here Sharp Pro going up to Rs 17.29 lakh for manual The price of Savvy Pro CVT is Rs 19.49 lakh. The prices of the diesel variants have not been announced yet.

Compared to the older model, pricing remains largely in the same bracket, with the starting price helping MG keep the Hector competitive against new rivals.

MG Hector new vs old: Who is this update for?

The new MG Hector is described as a mild refresh rather than a full-on upgrade. If you already have the outgoing model, the changes may not be attractive enough to justify an upgrade. However, for new buyers, the facelift offers a slightly sharper design, refreshed interiors and updated software, while retaining the qualities that made the Hector popular in the first place – space, comfort and technology.

MG Hector is going to get its biggest update till date, teaser revealed for the first time

MG Hector is going to get its biggest update till date, teaser revealed for the first time

New Delhi. MG Motor India has released the first teaser of its upcoming Hector facelift, which shows that this SUV is going to come with many major changes. Released with the tagline “It's been a long time. Get ready to be shocked”, this teaser gives a glimpse of the new design and the brand's new strategy for the Indian market. This is the first major update of Hector, which is coming after the partnership between MG and JSW. According to initial reports, the company is preparing to launch a more premium, feature-rich and technology-focused version of its flagship ICE SUV.

Awaiting details
Although most of the details of MG Hector facelift have been hidden in the teaser video, many important changes have been revealed from the pictures of the SUV seen during testing. In the spy images, the facelifted MG Hector has been seen testing on the highway, and what catches the most attention is its unique cover. Usually companies use heavy camouflage, but MG has used a green mesh tarpaulin tied with plastic ropes on the body of the SUV. This unique approach makes the test mule easily recognizable, but keeps the fine styling elements of the SUV hidden.

Expecting new exterior
A new exterior can be seen in the 2026 MG Hector, in which the front and rear bumpers have been redesigned, which will make the SUV look more modern and powerful. The new front grille is also included in the visual update, while new 19-inch alloy wheels can also be seen. Despite these changes, MG has retained the SUV's signature LED DRLs and headlamp layout. No major changes have been made in the overall sheet metal and silhouette of the SUV, which clearly shows that this facelift is more focused on cosmetic changes and not on structural changes.

new alloy wheels
Many other changes are also seen in the video. The first thing that catches the eye are the new alloy wheels, whose design is completely different from before, but the five-spoke layout remains intact. At the end of the video, the rear bumper is seen, in which a new skid plate has been given, which gives a sporty look to the SUV. Mild changes are also expected at the tailgate, although the side profile of the SUV remains almost the same and most of the sheet metal is taken from the existing Hector.

technical upgrade
Along with the external changes, many new features in terms of interior and technology can also be found in the 2026 MG Hector facelift. Ventilated seats can be provided for both front and rear passengers, which will increase the comfort level. The SUV can also get upgraded connected car technology, smoother and intuitive user interface and better ADAS features. All these changes have been designed to make Hector more premium and according to the changing needs of customers in the mid-size SUV segment.

Engine and Transmission
There will be no changes in terms of engine and transmission in the facelifted MG Hector. As before, it will have options of 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine (141 hp and 250Nm) and 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine (167 hp and 350Nm torque).
