MG Majestor

MG Motor India has increased the excitement about its upcoming full-size SUV MG Majestor. This SUV will compete with cars like Toyota Fortuner and Jeep Meridian in the D+ segment. It is to be launched in the Indian market on 12th February.

Recently a teaser video of this has surfaced. The video shows the SUV driving on different terrains. It includes three dedicated off-road modes – Rock, Sand and Snow. These modes will provide better traction and control in challenging terrains like rock, sand and snow.

Majestor will be the real offroader!

This SUV has a 4×4 system, low-range 4WD and switches with differential locks, which make it capable of off-roading. Recently it was seen testing on Mount Japfu and Extreme Terrain in Nagaland, where its suspension articulation and ground clearance impressed.

Design and interior

The exterior of Majestor looks quite aggressive and premium. It gets Falcon-inspired LED DRLs, a large front grille, thick body cladding and dual-tone 19-inch alloy wheels (265/65 R19 Apollo Apterra HT tyres), making it rugged and stylish. There are connected LED taillights and chrome exhaust tips at the rear. It is bigger, longer, wider and taller than MG Gloster. Also, it is built on ladder-frame chassis.

The interior is going to be full of luxury. It has dual 12.3-inch screens, Level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, JBL sound system and 7-seater layout. It is perfect for both family use and off-road adventure.

Engine and Performance

Talking about powertrain, it is expected to get a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, which will generate around 213 bhp power and 478 Nm torque. It will be equipped with 8-speed automatic transmission. Some variants may also have a single-turbo option. Its price can be around 40-45 lakhs.

Upcoming 7 Seater SUVs in India: The market of 7 seater SUVs is growing rapidly in the country's auto market. Their demand has increased especially due to the increasing needs of families and demand for premium features. Many models are going to be launched this year in the beginning of 2026. These include the names of MG Majestor, Volkswagen Tayron and new Mahindra Scorpio-N (facelift).

These three 7 seater SUVs are ready to make a strong hold in the premium segment. MG Majestor

The first number in the list is MG Magister. It will hit the market on 12 February 2026 and will be MG's first D+ SUV in India. It is bigger than Fortuner in size. Approximately 4.8 meters or more in length. It is being considered as an upgraded or flagship version of MG Gloster, which will be positioned above the Gloster. The estimated price could range between ₹40 lakh to ₹55 lakh (ex-showroom).

It will have a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, which produces 216hp power and 479Nm torque. Features will include advanced safety features like LED projector headlamps, vertical LED DRLs, 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, rear seat ventilation, wireless charger, rear AC vents, 360-degree camera and level-2 ADAS. The interior will have three row (6 or 7 seater) layout, premium upholstery and modern touchscreen infotainment system. It will give a very spacious and luxurious feel for family use, and will also be able to perform well on rough roads.

Volkswagen Tayron

VW will introduce it as Volkswagen Tayron or Tayron R-Line. This new 7-seater flagship SUV can be launched by March 2026. VW has officially confirmed it in India and it will come in R-Line version, which will have a sporty look. The estimated price could be around ₹45 lakh to ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom). It will have a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, which generates 204hp power and 320Nm torque.

This powertrain will come with 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox and 4MOTION AWD system. Features include 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps and connected taillamps, 15-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, three-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, ventilated and massaging front seats, ambient lighting, 360-degree camera and level-2 ADAS. It will be a direct competitor of Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian.

New Mahindra Scorpio-N (Facelift)

It can potentially be launched in the first half of the year 2026 i.e. March-June. Scorpio-N was launched in the Indian market in 2022 and is now getting a mid-life update. The price will be slightly higher than the current model, it can be launched between ₹ 14 lakh to ₹ 25 lakh. It will get cosmetic changes like new headlamps, grille, taillights and 18-inch new alloy wheels.

The interior will come with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, updated digital cluster, new upholstery, powered driver seat and more features. The engines will remain the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre turbo-diesel, 4WD option with manual and automatic transmission will also be offered. Features like ADAS level-2, Sony sound system and dual-zone AC will increase in it.

MG Motor India will launch its new 7-seater SUV Majestor next month on 12 February 2026. It is going to be a premium full-size SUV, which is an upgraded version of MG Gloster and is based on the Maxus D90. Its estimated ex-showroom price can be kept between ₹ 40 lakh to ₹ 45 lakh. The design of MG Gloster is bold, muscular and boxy, which will maintain good road presence. The front features a large blacked-out grille with horizontal slats and a large MG logo. The split headlight setup features slim LED DRLs at the top and vertical headlamps at the bottom. Silver bash plate and black cladding are also part of the design. The side profile features diamond-cut 19-inch alloy wheels, chrome running boards, blacked-out top-half, door handles and wing mirrors. At the rear, there are wraparound connected LED taillights, dual exhaust tips, reworked bumper, integrated spoiler and rear wiper. It is bigger than Gloster, length will be around 5000-5200 mm. Colors will be available: Deep Golden, Metal Black, Metal Ash, Warm White and Pearl White.

The interior is special

Its cabin is premium and has an all-black theme, which gives a luxury feel. There is a free-standing 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The 8-inch fully digital instrument cluster will come with a customizable interface.

The company will offer it in 6 or 7-seater configuration with panoramic sunroof, 12-way adjustable driver seat (heated, ventilated and massaging), heated passenger seat, three-zone climate control, wireless charging, 12-speaker audio system and electric tailgate. Along with this, dual tone upholstery and premium touches make the interior elegant.

Features are unique

Majester is going to be quite feature-rich. This includes level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, auto headlamps and wipers, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic parking brake with auto hold, hands-free tailgate, rain-sensing wipers and 3-zone automatic AC. The infotainment has plenty of connectivity options, making driving easy and entertaining. Features like off-road modes, differential locks and hill descent control make it adventurous.

Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, HAC, HDC, reverse parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors. ADAS features include lane change assist, blind spot detection, forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking. It is not NCAP tested, but the strong build and advanced tech make it safe.

Engine and Mileage

It will come with a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The turbo variant is expected to deliver 161-163 PS power and 373-375 Nm torque. It will get 8-speed automatic transmission with 2WD. Apart from this, twin-turbo will also be a new option, which can produce 213-218 PS power and 478-480 Nm torque. It is going to get 4WD option with automatic transmission. Mileage could be around 12-15 KMPL.
