Both MG Majestor and Toyota Fortuner are strong contenders in the premium 7-seater SUV segment in India. MG Majestor is a new model, which is launched in 2026 and is a direct competitor to Toyota Fortuner, which has been ruling the market for years.
The Majester is the longest, widest and tallest SUV in the segment. Its length is 5046 mm, width 2016 mm, height 1876 mm and wheelbase 2950 mm. At the same time, the length of Fortuner is about 4795 mm, width is 1855 mm and height is 1835 mm. Let's take a look at their design, interior, features, safety, engine and performance details.
MG Majestor vs Toyota Fortuner: Design
The design of MG Majestor is very modern and imposing. At the front, a large octagonal grille, vertical LED DRLs, split LED headlamps, 19-inch alloy wheels, connected LED taillights and dual exhaust tips give it an aggressive look. It looks much bigger and more present than the Fortuner.
The Toyota Fortuner, on the other hand, has a classic, rugged and muscular design that never goes out of style. Its grille, LED headlamps and rear design create a strong and tough image, but feel a bit compact compared to the Majestor. Majestor looks more modern and big in design, whereas Fortuner's look is timeless and a status symbol.
How much difference is there in the interior?
The interior of MG Majestor is full of luxury. Smoked ebony theme, dual 12.3-inch display (infotainment + digital cluster), panoramic sunroof, 12-way powered driver seat, ventilated and front seats with massage function, 3-zone climate control, 64-color ambient lighting, JBL 12-speaker system and powered tailgate with gesture control give it a premium feel. 6 or 7-seat layout available, third row is removable.
The Fortuner's interior is practical and durable, but not as luxurious as the Majestor. It has good quality materials, touchscreen, auto AC and good seating, but massage seats, dual display or that much ambient lighting is not available. Majestor is more comfortable and tech-loaded here.
Features and safety
MG Majestor is feature-rich. It has Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, twin wireless charger, digital key, 10 off-road modes (M-Hub), M-Crawl function and more convenience. Fortuner has good features. It has cruise control, touchscreen, but no ADAS level 2 and features are less than Majestor.
Majestor has 6 airbags, Level 2 ADAS (Adaptive Cruise, Lane Keep etc.) and strong body. Fortuner comes with 7 airbags and Toyota has a good reputation for safety. Both are strong in safety, but Majestor's ADAS gives the edge.
Engine and Performance
MG Majestor has a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine which produces 213-216 hp power and 478-479 Nm torque. Off-road performance is excellent with the ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox and 4×4 system (3 differential locks, 810 mm water wading).
Toyota Fortuner gets a 2.8-litre diesel (201-204 hp, 500 Nm) engine, which is available with 6-speed AT/MT and 4×4 option. It also has NeoDrive 48V mild-hybrid which increases efficiency. Torque is slightly high, reliability is top-class. The Fortuner is proven in performance, but the Majestor's twin-turbo engine and 8-speed gearbox can offer better refinement.
Final Verdict: Overall, MG Majestor is ahead in size, luxury, features and technology, while Toyota Fortuner is strong in reliability, resale value, service network and proven performance. If you want a modern SUV, then Majestor would be a better option and if you want a long-term partner, then Fortuner would be a better option.
