2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift has been introduced in the Indian market after a long wait. It is going to compete in the market with Renault Duster which was launched just a few days ago. Both are ready to make a splash in the compact SUV segment. Both compete with cars like Creta and Seltos. The price of Renault Duster has been revealed, but the price details of Taigun have not been revealed yet.

Talking about price, Duster offers more value. Its base variant Authentic TCe 100 is available for just ₹ 10.49 lakh (₹ 10.29 lakh on R-Pass). Whereas, the top Iconic DCT goes up to ₹ 18.49 lakh. Prices for the existing Taigun Facelift Comfortline 1.0 turbo petrol start at ₹11.42 lakh and go up to ₹19.19 lakh for the GT Plus Sport 1.5. The price may increase slightly due to facelift. Design and interior

The look of Taigun Facelift is premium and refined. New LED headlamps, illuminated logo-grille, Infinity LED taillamps, new 17-inch alloy wheels and panoramic sunroof. It is 4221 mm long and its ground clearance is 188 mm. Duster is bold and adventurous. It has a new signature grille, full LED lights, 212 mm ground clearance (segment best), 26.9° approach angle. This is better for off-road. The length and width of Duster is more and the look is muscular.

The cabin of Taigun facelift gives a premium feel. It has dual-tone leatherette seats, ventilated front seats, contrast stitching, laser red ambient lighting and a refreshed dashboard. Boot space is 385 litres. The interior of the Duster is spacious and modern. It can be bought with 10.1-inch touchscreen + 10.25-inch digital cluster, 48 color ambient lighting, ventilated seats and a large 518 liter boot (up to 700 liters) space.

Features and safety

Both have panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, 360° camera and ventilated seats. IDA voice command, 10-inch digital cockpit and front parking sensors are new in Taigun. Duster has Google built-in infotainment and more connectivity. The Taigun is already 5-star GNCAP rated and gets 6 airbags as standard, ESC, TPMS and 40+ safety features. Duster also has 6 airbags, 360° camera, disc brakes, all-round and Level-2 ADAS. Duster is expected to get a 5-star rating.

Engine and Performance

Taigun can be purchased with two petrol engine options – 1.0 liter TSI (115 PS/178 Nm, 6MT/new 8AT) and 1.5 liter TSI (150 PS/250 Nm, 7DCT). It is refined, smooth and fuel efficient (19+ kmpl). Duster is powerful. It can be purchased with 1.0 liter TCe 100 (100 PS/166 Nm, 6MT), 1.3 liter TCe 160 (163 PS/280 Nm, 6MT/6DCT) and till Diwali, 1.8 liter Strong Hybrid (160 PS) engine.

The first teaser of 2026 VW Taigun facelift has been released. The company has confirmed its launch on 9 April 2026. This is the first major update of the midsize SUV, which will make the Taigun, launched in 2021, more modern. The teaser shows a new front design, which reflects VW's global styling.

The facelift will show the biggest change at the front of the Taigun. It will get slimmer LED headlamps, connecting LED elements, new sleek grille and illuminated VW logo in the middle. The bumpers will be redesigned, which will give a sporty and elegant look. New LED taillights and refreshed bumpers are also possible at the rear. The overall road presence will be strong and modern. Premium feel will increase in the cabin. New trims, better materials and soft touch surfaces can be found. There will be no major changes in the engine. The 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI (115 PS, 178 Nm) and 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TSI (150 PS, 250 Nm) engines will continue. The 1.0 liter turbo engine will get a new 8-speed torque converter automatic (earlier 6-speed), which will give smooth shifts and better efficiency. The 1.5 liter turbo engine will have 7-speed DSG. Manual gearbox will also be available. Slight improvement in mileage is possible.

Expected Price

The price of the facelift model is expected to be between Rs 12 lakh to Rs 21 lakh (ex-showroom). There may be a slight increase from the current model. In the Indian market, it will compete with vehicles like Skoda Kushaq Facelift, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos. Overall, the 2026 Taigun facelift will come with strong updates in style, tech and refinement.
