New Delhi. Tata Motors' new SUV, Tata Curvv, is receiving tremendous response in the Indian market. In the last two months, 8,319 units have been sold, which is a relief news for the company. However, with this increasing sales, some concerns of the company have also increased. We believe that sales of Curvv may have a negative impact on Tata Nexon sales, as customers now have another option.
Tata Nexon has been India's best selling SUV for the last three years. Nexon had achieved the top position in terms of sales in the financial years 2021-2022, 2022-2023 and 2023-2024. But this year there has been a decline in the sales of Nexon. Sales of Nexon, which used to sell an average of more than 15,000 units every month, have now come down to between 11,000 to 12,000 units. After the launch of Tata Curve, it is believed that the sales of Nexon may decline further, because the features and prices of both the SUVs match each other to a great extent.
Features and design of Tata Curve
Tata Curve has been launched in four trims – Smart, Pure, Creative, and Achieved. This SUV is based on Tata's new Atlas platform and has been designed differently from the Tata Curve EV. In this, the front grill and air dam have been designed differently for better air flow. Besides, 18 inch alloy wheels are also provided in it, which give it an attractive look.
The Curve has modern features like 12.3-inch infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charger and 9-speaker JBL sound system. Apart from this, features like four-spoke steering wheel and backlit Tata logo make it even more premium.
Price and Variants
Tata Curve has been launched at a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 9.99 lakh, while the price of its top model goes up to Rs 19 lakh. However, these introductory prices will be valid only for customers booking till October 31, 2024.
Engine and Transmission Options
Tata Curve has been introduced with three engine options. The most prominent among these is the 1.2-litre GDi turbocharged petrol engine, which has been named Hyperion. This engine generates power of 124 bhp and torque of 225 Nm, which is paired with 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCA automatic transmission.
Apart from this, another variant of 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine is also available in the Curve, which produces 119 bhp power and 170 Nm torque. This is the same engine which is also found in Tata Nexon. The Curve also has the option of a 1.5-litre Chirotec diesel engine, which provides 117 bhp power and 260 Nm torque.
Characteristics of the curve in the segment
Tata Curve is the first SUV in its segment to offer dual-clutch automatic transmission option with diesel engine. This feature makes it even more attractive.
