New Delhi. Tata Motors has introduced the new petrol engined Harrier and Safari SUVs ahead of their official launch in India. Both these models have the company's new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which has been named Hyperion. This engine was also recently introduced with the new Sierra. The company has released a new video in which the Harrier and Safari are shown driving at the National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX) facility in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. This test was done in a controlled environment to show the performance, top speed and fuel efficiency of the new engine. This test does not reflect real world performance.

The video shows a red Tata Harrier with “Hyperion” badging undergoing calibration before taking it to the track. After this, the Red Dark Edition Safari was also tested with the same 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. According to Tata Motors, the Safari achieved a top speed of 216 kmph during the test.

New Delhi. The petrol variants of the much awaited Tata Harrier and Safari are going to be launched in India soon. Before the official launch, the company has shared information about the engine specifications, variants and features of both the SUVs. These models have Tata Motors' new 1.5 liter Hyperion petrol engine, which was first introduced in the Sierra SUV. However, this engine has been specially tuned for Harrier and Safari, due to which it generates power of 170 bhp and torque of 280 Nm.

In Tata Sierra, this engine gives maximum power of 160 bhp and torque of 255 Nm. That means Harrier petrol and Safari petrol give 10 bhp more power and 25 Nm extra torque than their new siblings, while they also weigh more.

The interesting thing is that the petrol variants give almost the same power and torque as their diesel variants. Diesel variants deliver 116 bhp power and 260 Nm torque in manual transmission, while 280 Nm torque in automatic transmission. Both SUVs come with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options.

The Tata Harrier petrol lineup is available in seven trims – Smart, Pure X, Adventure X, Adventure X+, Fearless X, Fearless X+ and the new Fearless Ultra. At the same time, Tata Safari Petrol also comes in seven variants – Smart, Pure X, Adventure X, Adventure X+, Accomplished X, Accomplished X+ and the new Accomplished Ultra. The petrol engine is also available in Dark, Stealth and Red Dark Edition.

These features are available in the new Ultra trim of both SUVs –

  • Samsung's 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
  • Digital IRVM with in-built dash cam.
  • Dolby Atmos.
  • On-board navigation.
  • Memory function for ORVM.
  • Sliding center console armrest.
  • 65W Type-C port.
  • Wash function for reversing camera.
  • The Harrier petrol gets a white-brown dual-tone cabin theme and the Safari petrol gets a gold-white dual-tone cabin theme.

Design and Styling
In terms of design and styling, the petrol variants of Tata Harrier and Safari are similar to their diesel variants. There has been no change in its dimensions, exterior design or cabin layout.

Will diesel engine be available or not?
There is likely not to be much change in the engine setup. The new 2026 Tata Nexon will get the existing 1.2 liter turbo petrol engine, which generates power of 120PS and torque of 170Nm. However, it is not clear whether the 1.5 liter diesel engine will be available in the next generation or not, as it may change due to the upcoming BS7 emission norms. CNG fuel option will remain available as before.

price increase decided
Considering the cosmetic changes, feature upgrades and mechanical improvements, the price of the new 2026 Tata Nexon may see a significant increase. The price of the current model starts from Rs 7.32 lakh and goes up to Rs 14.15 lakh (ex-showroom). Prices of the new Nexon can start from around Rs 8 lakh for the base variant and go up to Rs 17 lakh for the top variant.

They will get power from Tata's new 1.5L TGDi (Turbocharged, Direct Injection) petrol engine, this is Tata's latest and powerful engine. This engine is being used for the first time in these vehicles.

Tata's 1.5L TGDi petrol engine was first showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. This engine produces maximum power of 170PS at 5,000rpm and torque of 280Nm between 2,000rpm – 3,500rpm. Tata's new 1.5L turbo petrol engine adheres to BS6 Phase II emission norms and is capable of running on E20 ethanol blended petrol.

Tata Harrier and Safari petrol prices are expected to be more affordable than their diesel variants. Currently, the Harrier diesel lineup is priced between Rs 14 lakh to Rs 25.25 lakh and the Safari diesel is priced between Rs 14.66 lakh to Rs 25.96 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.

Tata Panch facelift

In updated punch, designed elements from Panch EV can be taken such as new front grille, changed bumpers and new headlamps. The micro SUV may also have newly designed alloy wheels, redesigned tailgate and ultraz-inspired LED tail lamps. The interior will include facilities like new two-spoke steering wheel and blind spot monitor, 8-spicker music system, ventilated front seats and 6 airbags. The Tata Harrier and Safari SUV will soon be available with a new 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine. This direct injection motor generates a maximum power of 170bhp at 5,000rpm and 2,000rpm – 3,500rpm torque of 280nm. This will suit the BS6 Phase II emission standard and E20 fuel. The new petrol engine will be introduced with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Mahindra Bolero/Bolero Neo facelift
Updated Mahindra Bolero and Bolero Neo have been seen several times during testing, which has revealed the major design changes and feature upgrade. 2025 Mahindra Bolero Neo can have features such as 10.2-inch large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging pads, ventilated seats, wireless Android auto and Apple CarPlay, Kelace Go System and Push-Button Start. In the case of the engine, the SUV will have an existing 1.5L, 3-cylinder MHAWK diesel engine, which generates 100bhp power and 260Nm torque.

Mahindra Thar facelift 2025
Mahindra Thar facelift will take several design elements and features from Thar Rocks, while the existing engine options will remain intact. Spy image shows that the updated SUV will have new G-shaped LED Signature for new grille, new alloy wheels and headlamps and tellamps. Inside, the new Thar will have a 10.25-inch large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charger in center console, Grab handles on A-pillars, power window switch and other facilities in the door. There will be no change in the engine options, including the existing model 2.0L turbo petrol, 1.5L turbo petrol and 2.2L Turbo Diesel Units.
