This variant is mainly suitable for city driving and everyday use, with a good balance of safety and performance. Its starting price at the time of launch has been kept attractive, which makes it competitive in the segment. Tata Punch Smart variant price

The base Smart variant of the 2026 Tata Punch starts at ₹5.59 lakh (ex-showroom) with petrol manual transmission. This is an introductory price, which may increase later. The price for the CNG version is ₹6.69 lakh, but we are focusing on the petrol base here. On-road prices could reach around ₹6.22 lakh in Delhi, which includes registration, insurance and other charges.

Talking about the design, the front fascia in the Punch facelift has been given an EV-like minimalistic look. The front bumper has been redesigned with sharp and straight lines, different from the earlier rounded look. Power Sight LED headlamps are standard, but full-width LED DRLs are available in the upper variants.

There is no major change in the side profile. The squared wheel arches, thick body cladding and high ground clearance (193 mm) remain intact, making it off-road capable. Connected LED tail lamps have been provided in the rear, which are inspired by models like Nexon and Harrier.

The base variant has 15-inch steel wheels, while the higher variants get 16-inch alloy wheels. Talking about dimensions, its length is 3827 mm, width is 1742 mm, height is 1615 mm and wheelbase is 2445 mm. Available colors include Scientific Blue, Caramel, Bengal Rouge, Coorg Clouds, Daytona Gray and Pristine White.

Interior and Features

The cabin of the base variant is simple and comfortable. There is a dual-tone blue and gray dashboard, which gives a clean look. A corporate steering wheel is provided, but mounted controls are in higher variants. The seats come with new upholstery, but extended thigh support will be available only in higher trims. Driver seat height is also not adjustable in the base.

Boot space is 366 litres, which is quite good in its class. There is no big infotainment screen. It has been introduced with basic audio system. The Smart variant has the basics like city and eco drive modes, remote keyless entry. There is no advanced infotainment or wireless charging.

There has been no reduction in safety. It has 6 airbags as standard, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Indirect Tire Pressure Monitoring System (iTPMS), ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts. It has a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, which is much better in the segment.

Engine Specifications

The base variant of Punch can be purchased with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. It is capable of delivering 88 PS power and 115 Nm torque. Transmission option is 5-speed manual, turbo or AMT is not available in the base. This engine is sufficient for city and highway driving. ARAI claimed mileage is 20.09 KMPL.

It also has the option of CNG powertrain, which gives power of 73.5 HP and torque of 103 Nm. For transmission, the option of 5-speed manual gearbox and 5-speed AMT will be available.

Currently, the price of Tata Punch starts from Rs 5.50 lakh (ex-showroom). After facelift, its price may increase to around Rs 6 lakh. After launch, this model will compete with Hyundai Exeter, Citroen C3 and other vehicles.
