New Delhi. Tata Panch has seen difficult times in the last few months, from being on top in the list of bestseling cars, being out of the top 10. Currently, India's cheapest SUV, Tata Panch, is struggling in the market after a spectacular performance in 2024. Although the cell has not dropped much, it has not been able to get back its top position yet. So, what could be the reason for this?

Tata punch sales
One reason for the falling cell of Tata punch is also increasing competition. Of course, this is an SUV. However, with the launch of Maruti Dzire facelift in 2024, the sedan immediately captured the market. Dzire received a big upgrade in terms of interior, exterior and feature list. Dzire became the first Maruti to achieve a 5-star safety rating. Similarly, other Maruti cars like Baleno and Wagon R have also become the first choice among buyers. This is when the cell of SUV models is steadily increasing in the market.

Competition from these cars

Talking about the SUV segment SUV segment, in the high price segment, many cars are performing better than the punch. Previously, Panch used to be one of the top 3 best selling SUVs every month. However, buyers are liking Tata Nexon more than the punch. Even Maruti Brezza is selling more than cheap Tata punch. Apart from this, Maruti also has Fronks, which is doing well and has achieved quite popularity in a short time. Apart from this, premium SUVs like Hyundai Creta and Mahindra Scorpio are also ahead in terms of sales.

These can also be the reason
Space may be a reason that buyers are getting away from Tata Panch. Tata is a car with a 5 star safety rating. But, for some time, many new cars have come in this segment which have been equipped with 5 star safety. Now, while Panch was popular for its safety, there was a shortage of safety features in other Maruti cars of the same segment. Therefore, Panch obtained a 5-star security rating. In addition, this year, Maruti updated other cars such as Wagon R, Baleno and Fronks as a standard feature with 6 airbags.

The only SUV to snatch the number 1 crown from Maruti, better safety than German cars for just Rs 6 lakh, best in features too!

New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki has been leading the Indian car market for the last 22 years. If we look at the top-10 selling cars of every month, then mostly Maruti cars remain in the list. Maruti's cars like WagonR, Swift, Dezire and Ertiga are known as the best selling models in India. These cars always remain on the first, second or third position in terms of sales.

However, a few years ago, a car manufacturer of the country launched an SUV which snatched the number-1 crown from Maruti cars. This car has reached more than 4 lakh homes and offers the best performance, space and safety features at its price.

This car snatched the crown of number-1
Tata Punch is a well-known name in the Indian car market. Tata Motors launched it as a budget SUV in October 2021 and its popularity has continued since then. The company launched it at an ex-showroom price of Rs 5.49 lakh and it is still the safest car in its segment. The latest generation of Tata Punch is priced at Rs 6.12 lakh (ex-showroom) and this car comes with a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating. The company is offering it in petrol as well as CNG and electric versions.

Tata Punch gives a mileage of 27 Km/Kg in CNG.

Let us tell you that according to market research firm Jato Dynamics, a total of 1,16,000 units of Maruti WagonR have been sold between January and July 2024, while during the same period, Tata Punch has registered sales of more than 1,26,000 units. If we look at the contribution of models other than petrol in sales, then 45% of Wagner's sales came from CNG models. Whereas, the contribution of CNG and electric models in the sales of Punch was 47%.

The secret of Tata Punch's success
Punch is a micro SUV, which offers SUV like features at an affordable price. Additionally, Punch has moved beyond just petrol options to multi-fuel options, giving customers the option to choose from CNG and electric models in addition to petrol. Electric and CNG variants of the Punch make up 47% of its total sales, indicating the popularity of alternative fuel options. It is also clear from this change that the interest of consumers is now moving away from traditional fuel towards alternative fuel options.
