Tesla is going to open its first showroom in India on 15 July 2025 at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. The model Y will be available for sale in India, which costs ₹ 27.7 lakhs.

Permission from RTO
A few days ago, Tesla (RTO) received an official permission to showcase her models, give test drives and start a sale. According to officials, the Andheri RTO has formally given a 'trade certificate' to the global EV veteran. The trade certificate issued under Section 35 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules also gives permission to run vehicles without registration on public roads.
The model Y will be the first Tesla model to sell in India. Patents and trademarks have already been admitted to the country for electric crossover. Apart from this, on several occasions in recent months, the model Y has also been seen testing on Indian roads. The model Y is introduced in two main variants at the global level-Long Range Rear-Vehil Drive (RWD) and Long Range All-wheel drive (AWD).
574 km (EPA) range
The long range RWD variant gives a range of 574 km (EPA) and can achieve a speed of 0 to 100 kmph in 5.4 seconds. The long range AWD model, which is equipped with two motors, offers a range of 527 km and achieves speed of 0 to 100 kmph in 4.6 seconds.
Model y reached Mumbai
The Bloomberg report revealed that the 5 Made-in-India Tesla model Y SUV has already reached Mumbai. Official records show that the price of each model Y is around ₹ 27.7 lakh (about $ 31,988). However, 70% import duty on fully assembled electric vehicles priced less than $ 40,000 in India.
