Both Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Roomian are 7-seater MPVs, which are the best option for large families. Actually Roomian is a rebadged version of Ertiga. That means both are built on the same platform. Still, there are some differences in design, price, features and branding.

On one hand, Ertiga starts at just ₹ 8.80 lakh (LXi petrol) and the top variant (ZXi+ AT) goes up to ₹ 12.94 lakh. Whereas, Rumion starts from ₹ 9.56 lakh (E/S variant) and goes up to ₹ 13.86 lakh (V AT). Rumian is expensive around ₹70,000 to ₹1 lakh. Let us know what is the difference between these two?

Design and dimensions

The exterior of both the cars is quite similar, but Roomian has Toyota's premium touch. The front grille of the Roomian is trapezoidal like the Innova Crysta. There is a new bumper, fog lamps and new 15-inch alloy wheels. In length, the Rumion is slightly longer (4420 mm) while the Ertiga is 4395 mm. The rear is almost identical, only the badging is different. The styling of the Ertiga is classic Maruti, while the Roomian looks more premium and with chrome accents.

Cabin and Comfort

The cabin is almost completely identical. Dual tone dashboard, 7-seater flexible layout, 60:40 split second row and good space. The third row is also suitable for adults. Boot space is 209 litres. The beige color theme looks brighter in Ertiga, whereas the Roomian has a grey/dark tone. Both have the same 7-inch touchscreen, steering and AC vents. The Roomien has more cup holders and a better finishing touch in some variants.

Features and safety

Both have features like wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, auto climate control (top variant), cruise control, keyless entry, rear camera and power windows. The Roomian has the added benefit of Toyota Connected App (remote AC, location) and Arkamys audio. Ertiga has third row 12V socket and more variant options. Overall the features are 90% similar, but Roomian gives a premium feel.

Both have 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, hill hold, ISOFIX and rear camera as standard. The Ertiga has a global NCAP rating of 3-star (1-star in some earlier tests). Rumian is not tested separately. An improved TPMS (tire pressure monitoring) is also available in the Rumion. The safety of both is good.

Engine and Mileage

Both have the same 1.5 liter K15C petrol engine (102 PS power, 137-139 Nm torque), which comes with mild hybrid technology. It can be purchased with 5-speed manual or 6-speed auto transmission and CNG kit. ARAI claimed mileage is up to 20.51 kmpl in petrol and 26.11 km/kg in CNG.

Whereas the price of Toyota Roomian ranges from ₹ 9.55 lakh (E variant) to ₹ 13.86 lakh (V AT Top). The Gravitas is cheaper by around ₹4 lakh, making it a good option for budget buyers. design details

Nissan Gravit is a sub-4 meter compact MPV. Its length is 3987 mm and wheelbase is 2636 mm. Its design is modern and sleek. The look is bold with a C-shaped bumper, hexagon pattern grille, smoked LED headlights, DRLs, fog lamps, 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and LED taillights at the rear. It can be considered perfect for easy parking and maneuvering on city roads.

At the same time, Toyota Roomian is bigger. Its length is 4460 mm and wheelbase is 2740 mm. Also, it gets premium MPV styling like Innova Hycross. Clean profile, projector headlamps, vertically stacked LED taillights and chrome garnish make it special. The road presence is stronger and the family look is more perfect.

Cabin and Comfort

Both are 7-seater, but the interior of Gravity is more flexible. It gets a dual-tone dashboard, floating 8-inch infotainment, 7-inch digital cluster, leather upholstery, 150+ seating configurations, sliding-reclining second row and removable third row (50:50 fold), taking the boot space to 625 litres. Independent rear AC, air purifier, cooled glovebox and 31 liters of storage space add to the comfort.

CNG kit has not arrived yet. The Rumion is powered by a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder petrol engine (103 PS / 137 Nm), which is also available with CNG (87 PS). Its claimed mileage is 20.51 kmpl in petrol and 26.11 km/kg in CNG.

Who to buy: If the budget is ₹ 6-9 lakh, city use and flexible seating is required, then 2026 Nissan Gravity can be a good option. Toyota Roomian is better for more space, power, CNG option and longer drive. Both families keep the tags of the car with them.

Toyota has made its popular 7-seater MPV Rumion even more affordable. The company has launched a new base variant E MT NewDrive, whose ex-showroom price is only ₹ 9.55 lakh. Earlier the price of base model S was ₹ 10.51 lakh. This means that now there will be a saving of around Rs 95,000 to Rs 1 lakh.

The entire range is now available starting from ₹9.55 lakh (E MT) to ₹13.86 lakh (V AT). This change will also reduce road tax in many states and has become a value for money offer for family car buyers. Let's take a look at its design, features, safety, engine and mileage details.

Design and dimensions

The Toyota Roomian has a premium look like the smaller Innova Hycross. The chrome surround grille at the front, projector halogen headlamps and LED tail lamps make it attractive. The side profile is clean and family-friendly with 15-inch steel wheel caps (in the base) or two-tone machined alloy wheels (in the top), body colored ORVMs and chrome garnish. The length of the vehicle is 4460 mm, width is 1735 mm, height is 1690 mm and wheelbase is 2740 mm, which gives spacious cabin and good stability.

Earlier this month, Toyota had launched festive editions of Glanza, Urban Cruiser Taisor and Urban Cruiser Hyrider.

Toyota Rumion Festive Edition is being offered with Toyota Genuine Accessory (TGA) package, which is priced at Rs 20,608, but it is offered at no extra cost to the customers. In this accessory package, customers will get many additional features, which include mud flaps, carpet mats, chrome door visor and roof edge spoiler. Apart from this, garnishing has also been done on the tailgate, rear bumper, headlamp, number plate and body side molding of the vehicle.

Engines and Variants
Toyota Rumion Festive Edition has the same 1.5-litre petrol engine, which comes with 5-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Along with this, CNG version is also available for the customers. This MPV is being offered in three variants S, G and V.
