The mid-size SUV segment in India has been growing rapidly for the last few years. It has two battery options – 49kWh (440km ARAI range, 142 bhp) and 61kWh (543km range, 172 bhp). Both have 193Nm torque and front wheel drive. Charges 80% in 30 minutes with 150kW DC fast charging support.

The top variant gets level-2 ADAS, 7 airbags, 10.1 inch touchscreen, 10.25 inch digital driver display, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, ventilated front seats, 360 degree camera, panoramic sunroof and 18 inch alloy wheels. The price is expected to be Rs 18 to 25 lakh (ex-showroom). This vehicle will give quiet, smooth and premium driving experience.

New Renault Duster

The new Duster was unveiled on 26 January 2026 and is scheduled to be launched in March 2026. This is the third generation Duster, which is bringing the off-road spirit of the old one with new looks and technology. The price is likely to be between Rs 10 to 20 lakh. Engine options include 1.0 liter turbo petrol (100 bhp), Turbo TCe 160 (163 PS, 280Nm) and strong hybrid E-Tech 160 (1.8 liter petrol + 1.4kWh battery, 80% electric mode). It can be purchased with 6-speed manual and DCT.

With ground clearance 212mm, boot space 518 liters (up to 700 liters) and terrain control, it is best for adventure lovers. Features include 10.1 inch freestanding touchscreen, 10.25 inch digital cluster, 17 ADAS features (autonomous braking, lane keep assist), panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, 360 degree camera and 7 airbags. The new design is aggressive and modern. The hybrid variant will arrive by Diwali 2026. Due to its strong performance, safety and space at a low price, it can prove to be a game changer in the segment.

New Skoda Kushaq

The new Skoda Kushaq facelift was unveiled on 20 January 2026 and deliveries will start from March 2026. This updated model adopts modern solid design language. This includes new LED headlights, DRLs, rear light bar and Monte Carlo trim. The price is expected to be Rs 11 to 19 lakh. Engines are 1.0 TSI (new 8-speed torque converter AT) and 1.5 TSI (6-speed MT/7-speed DSG).

The interior gets a 10.25-inch digital driver display, 10.1-inch infotainment, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, rear disc brakes (1.5 in) and updated materials. Safety includes 6 airbags as standard, ESP and ISOFIX. Although there is no ADAS, driving dynamics will remain Skoda's forte. The new 8-speed AT will increase comfort both in the city and on the highway.

Tata Sierra.EV

Tata Sierra EV is scheduled to be launched in March-April 2026. ICE Sierra is scheduled to be launched in November 2025. EV is its electric version which will be built on Acti.ev platform. The price can be kept between Rs 15 to 25 lakh. It can be offered with 55kWh or 65-75kWh battery options, capable of delivering 500km+ ARAI range.

The design is retro-modern. Boxy looks, high bonnet, flush door handles and connected LED lights. The interior has a triple screen dashboard, ventilated powered front seats, panoramic sunroof, level-2 ADAS, 360 camera and premium audio. It will position between Nexon.EV and Curve.EV. With Tata's strong EV network and safety record, this family can become popular as an e-SUV.

Nissan Tekton

Nissan Tecton is a new mid-size SUV to be launched in mid-2026 (around May). It will be revealed in February 2026. It is built on the CMF-B platform (shared with Renault Duster) and the price can go from Rs 10 to 18 lakh. 1.3 liter turbo petrol engine (CVT option) will be the main powertrain.

It will get a design inspired by Nissan Patrol. Commanding stance, C-shaped LED lights, silver roof rails and muscular looks. The interior is going to have a large touchscreen, three-tone theme, wireless connectivity and advanced safety features. It will be manufactured in Chennai plant and will also be exported. It is going to compete with vehicles like Creta and Seltos in the market.

2. Maruti Suzuki and Vitara

Maruti Suzuki's first mainstream electric SUV e Vitara will be launched in early 2026. It will probably be introduced in February-March only. It will compete with cars like Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV and Mahindra BE 6 in the mid-size SUV segment. It will come with two battery options – 49 kWh and 61 kWh.

The variant with larger battery gives ARAI range up to 543 km. Power will be between 142-172 bhp and FWD (front-wheel drive) setup will be the main one. AWD may also come later. Features include 10.25-inch touchscreen, ADAS, 7 airbags, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats and JBL audio. It has a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP. Expected price is between ₹17-25 lakh.

3. Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella

Toyota's first EV will be launched in India under the name of Urban Cruiser Ebella. This is a badge-engineered version of Maruti e Vitara. It has been unveiled in January 2026 and is expected to be launched in February. It will also come with 49 kWh and 61 kWh batteries, where the larger battery gives 543 km ARAI range.

Power 142-172 bhp, features include 10.1-inch infotainment, JBL sound, ventilated seats, level-2 ADAS, 7 airbags and 12-color ambient lighting. Toyota is offering it 8-year battery warranty, BaaS (Battery as a Service) and 60% buyback offer. Expected price is around ₹16-24 lakh.

4. Mahindra BE 6 Rall-E

Mahindra BE 6 has already been launched (starting at Rs 18.90 lakh), but its Rall-E variant (the sporty version inspired by the concept) will come with more updates in 2026. It is based on the INGLO platform, which is performance-focused. The batteries are 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The range is 500+ km (MIDC) and it can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.

Features include ADAS, 360-degree camera, high-speed charging (175 kW) and premium interior. It is in coupe-SUV style, which will attract youth buyers. The price is expected to be between ₹ 18-27 lakh. Mahindra's EV technology and performance will make it strong in the sporty EV segment.

5.Tata Avinya EV

Tata Avinya is Tata's premium EV brand, which will be launched in late 2026 or early 2027. It is based on Gen-3 architecture, which is inspired by JLR. It will come in SUV/crossover style, with a range of 500+ km (with ultra-fast charging in 30 minutes), premium interior, advanced ADAS, connectivity and luxury features. It can be launched at a starting ex-showroom price of around ₹ 50-60 lakh.
