The 2025 Triumph Trident 660 has been unveiled globally with several new features. The latest generation of the middleweight naked roadster will be offered with four new color options, new electronic aids and an updated suspension setup. With this, the new Trident can now be had with cruise control, while traction control and cornering ABS come as standard features. It sports an all-LED headlamp, an integrated tail lamp and self-canceling indicators.

The powertrain and performance figures remain largely unchanged, with the same 660 cc liquid-cooled inline three-cylinder making 81 bhp at 10,250 rpm and 64 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm. It is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and a slip and assist clutch, and is equipped with Trident ride-by-wire technology, a new riding mode and a quickshifter.

The Trident 660 is built around a tubular steel perimeter frame with a two-way steel swingarm. The updated roadster has 41 mm Showa USD forks at the front, while a monoshock RSU has been installed at the rear. The Trident runs on five-spoke 17-inch cast aluminum wheels. Braking duties are handled by the same twin 310 mm disc at the front and single 255 mm disc at the rear.

The new and updated Triumph Trident 660 runs on the same powertrain as before but gets important features like traction control, traction control and cornering ABS.

Triumph Motorcycles has fitted a new sensor system, called the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), which is said to continuously monitor and adjust engine and braking parameters. This allows features such as traction control, optimized cornering ABS and cruise control to be offered as standard on the motorcycle.

The Trident 660 has three different riding modes, with 'Sport' mode being the newest. This mode brings quicker throttle response while the 'Road' mode focuses on refinement. Triumph says the 'Rain' mode softens the Trident's power delivery to make it suitable for wet conditions.

Triumph Thruxton 400 in the works? New spy shots reveal upcoming 400 cc cafe racer

Triumph Thruxton 400 in the works? New spy shots reveal upcoming 400 cc cafe racer

Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles launched the maiden motorcycles from the partnership with the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X off to a good start. The bikes are made in India and will be sold globally as the most affordable Triumph bikes. It now seems the British bike maker is working on a third motorcycle as per the latest spy shots that surfaced on the internet. The new spy images reveal a cafe racer based on the Triumph Speed 400 in the works, which could be the new Triumph Thruxton 400.

The Triumph Thruxton 400 could arrive next year sharing underpinnings with the Speed 400

The latest images reveal the motorcycle to be identical to the Triumph Speed 400, while the biggest addition is the bubble-type fairing on the motorcycle. The old-school fairing appears similar to the one on the Triumph Speed Triple RR, which could also serve as an inspiration for the entry-level cafe racer.

The test mule also reveals clip-on handlebars in place of a flat handlebar, while the rest of the bodywork including the fuel tank, side panels and tail section have been carried over. The riding posture also appears more dedicated thanks to the clip-ons, while the foot pegs remain slightly rear-set, like the Speed 400.

Triumph Motorcycles is all set to end the production of the Thruxton 1200 at the end of 2024 and it will be really interesting to see if the name could be revived for a brand new cafe racer based on the 400 platform. The bike is expected to continue using the 399 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that belts out 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm on the Speed and Scrambler 400. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

The Triumph Thruxton 400 will not only bring a more retro flair but also bring more visual volume to the motorcycle, which is otherwise missing on the tightly packaged Speed 400. Official details are yet to be confirmed but we expect Triumph to announce the motorcycle sometime next year. The company is currently working on commencing exports for the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X to Europe, while the Thruxton 400 could arrive globally by mid-2024 or in the second half of the year.

While the Triumph Speed 400 is more road-biased over the adventure-ready Scrambler 400 X, both bikes share the same engine, semi-digital instrument console, all-LED lighting and a 13-litre fuel tank. Coming to differences, the Speed 400’s design is inspired by the Speed Twin and gets smaller 17-inch alloy wheels with a lower seat height.

The Triumph Scrambler 400 X is inspired by the Scrambler 900 and 1200 and comes with 19-inch and 17-inch rear alloy wheels. There’s also Ride-by-Wire with switchable traction control, while dual-channel ABS is standard with the option to turn off the rear ABS on the Scrambler.

Triumph Scrambler 400 X
Triumph Scrambler 400 X does have more road presence than the Speed 400. This is mostly because of the exhaust, accessories and height.

The 2024 Triumph Speed 400 is priced at 26,900 Ringgit (approx. 4.80 lakh), while the Triumph Scrambler 400 X is priced at 29,900 Ringgit (approx. 5.33 lakh) in Malaysia. That’s substantially more expensive than the Indian versions. The new Triumph Speed 400 will take on the KTM 390 Duke, Modenas Dominar 400 (Bajaj Dominar 400 in India), BMW G 310 R, Kawasaki Z400 and the like. The Triumph Scrambler 400 X will take on the Royal Enfield Scram 411, BMW G 310 GS, and the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 in the same space.

Triumph Rocket 3 recalled in the US over faulty rear brake

Triumph Motorcycles has recalled the Rocket 3 roadster in the US over a faulty rear brake setup. The Triumph Rocket 3 bikes manufactured since 2020 have been affected by the recall and the company will replace the necessary components to fix the same. The motorcycle is the brand’s flagship and the bike features the biggest production engine on a two-wheeler. The recall extends to the Rocket 3 GT, R and TFC variants.

The recall for the Triumph Rocket 3 has been initiated in the US for models manufactured since 2020

Triumph says that over 3,500 units of the Rocket 3 have been produced since 2020, which fall under the purview of the recall. These machines are equipped with a 12.7 mm rear brake master cylinder and the unit is unable to move the brake oil to the set distance. This has led to air bubbles forming inside the cylinder, which could further increase pedal travel while braking. This could be a dangerous issue while riding but Triumph has not reported any injuries so far due to the faulty braking system.

In order to fix the same, Triumph will install a larger 14 mm rear master cylinder, which should allow the flow of oil adequately. The recall is specific to the US at the moment and it needs to be seen if it will be extended to other markets. The Rocket 3 is sold in India as well and the bike arrives as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). The motorcycle is priced from a whopping 19.90 lakh, going up to 21.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The Triumph Rocket 3 gets the massive 2,500 three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine tuned to produce 166 bhp and 221 Nm of peak torque. The motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. 0-100 kmph comes up in 2.73 seconds. The bike has a full aluminium frame with 47 mm Showa USD front forks and a fully adjustable Showa monoshock at the rear. Braking performance comes from 320 mm front and 300 mm rear discs with Brembo Stylema calipers. The bike gets dual-channel ABS, Cornering ABS, four riding modes, and more.
