Vinfast VF 6 and VF 7 have achieved 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP. According to the official results released today i.e. 21 January 2026, both the electric SUVs have received a full 5-star rating in both Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP) categories under the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP). During the crash test, both the vehicles have shown better performance in frontal impact, side impact and pole side impact test. Both got full marks in the side impact test. Scores were 16/16 for adults and 8/8 for children. Also scored full marks in head, neck and upper leg protection in frontal crash. Although the VF 6 received weak protection for the driver's chest in a frontal collision, overall it reached the 5-star level.

Safety Features

Both these models are built on EV-dedicated platform and are being assembled in Tamil Nadu. There are 7 airbags as standard (including driver, passenger, side, curtain and driver knee airbag). Also, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) like Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control etc. are available in many variants.

ISOFIX child seat anchorages and strong body structure scored high for child protection. The VF 6 and VF 7 do not have integrated child restraint systems, but got full marks in the CRS installation test. Overall, both the VF 6 (mid-size) and VF 7 (compact) SUVs proved that electric vehicles can be not only eco-friendly but also extremely safe.

  • The VF 7 performed slightly better than the VF 6, especially in adult protection.

This 5-star rating is important in the Indian EV market, as it brings safety levels at par with local models like Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400. Vinfast is adopting an aggressive strategy in India with an investment of $2 billion and this certification will increase customer confidence. Especially in cities like Delhi-NCR, where traffic is dense and safety is a priority, such vehicles can become popular.

Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer Vinfast has formally started deliveries of its entry-level models – VF6 and VF7 – in India. The initial batch of cars has already been delivered to customers in various states like Kochi, Jaipur and others. The deliveries come just weeks after the brand's India launch in September 2025, when Vinfast detailed its long-term plans for local production, retail and service network.

WinFast VF6: Price, Specifications and Features

The VinFast VF6 competes in the compact EV SUV segment, targeting young urban buyers looking for premium features and good range, but without much more than that. 20 lakh price barrier. VF6 is located between 16.49 lakh more ₹ 18.29 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes in three trims – Earth, Wind and Wind Infinity.

Under the skin, there is a 59.6 kWh battery that drives a front-mounted electric motor that produces 201 hp and 310 Nm of torque. VinFast promises an ARAI-certified range of 468 km, with fast charging from 10 percent to 70 percent taking just 25 minutes. The SUV accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds, which is good enough for urban and highway driving.

On the inside, the VF6 looks contemporary and comes equipped with a 12.9-inch touchscreen, head-up display, air purifier, 360° camera and ADAS safety suite. It also gets seven airbags as standard, 190 mm ground clearance and a 2,730 mm wheelbase, giving it stability and satisfactory road presence. VinFast is backing the VF6 with a 7-year warranty or 1.60 lakh km as well as a launch charging benefit package, demonstrating confidence in its product.

WinFast VF7: Price, Specifications and Features

A segment above, the VinFast VF7 is a mid-size electric SUV aimed at buyers who desire increased power, range and space. prices are From Rs 20.89 Lakh ₹ 25.49 lakh (ex-showroom), available with five trims – Earth, Wind, Wind Infinity, Sky and Sky Infinity.

The VF7 is available with two battery packs – 59.6 kWh and 70.8 kWh, and can be available with 2WD or AWD drivetrains. Power delivery ranges from 175 bhp and 250 Nm on the lowest variant to 350 bhp and 500 Nm on the AWD variant. The range-topping VF7 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds, and packs a claimed range of up to 510 km.

Similar to the VF6, the VF7 features a luxury, technology-laden interior with connected functions, larger infotainment screen, ADAS and a panoramic sunroof on top trims. It also benefits from the same warranty of 10 years or 2 lakh km.
