Worldwide Developers Conference
The 2022 Worldwide Developers Conference was introduced at the APL CarPlay Ultra as 'Next-Generation' in-car feature, which is bringing revolution in the vehicle dashboard integration. The carplay controls and integrates the display of the ultra car, including the instrument cluster, which provides a customized display for speed, fuel, temperature and others. Drivers can see information from their iPhone such as maps and music in the driver's console with car data such as driver assistance alerts and tire pressure.
Volvo cars and Audi told the financial Times that they have no plans to use CarPlay Ultra. Hakan Samuelson, the chief executive of Volvo Cars, said that car manufacturers should not compete with technology companies in terms of software. “There are other people who can do it better, and then we should present it in our cars,” he said.
Customized and Easy Digital Experience
On the other hand, Audi said that she was focusing on offering drivers “a customized and easy digital experience”. According to the report, Porsche, Hyundai, Kiya and Genesis Apple are committed to adopting CarPlay Ultra, while Jaguar Land Rover said he would continue to evaluate the system. Despite the protest, Apple seems unaffected, according to the Financial Times. The company believes that once the consumers experience CarPlay Ultra, the demand will increase, which will put pressure on the auto manufacturers to adopt it. How it comes in the coming years, it remains to be seen.
