'Baby Scorpio' will be launched in the Indian market soon.

Mahindra is moving fast with its upcoming compact SUV Mahindra Vision S. This model has come very close from concept to production form and was recently spotted again testing in camouflage on Indian roads. Known as Mini Scorpio N, this sub-4 meter SUV will have off-roading appeal with a boxy and rugged design. It will be built on the NU.IQ platform and will present the styling of Scorpio N in a smaller format.

Its expected price is expected to be between ₹ 9 lakh to ₹ 17.5 lakh (ex-showroom), which could make it an attractive option compared to the XUV 3XO and other compact SUVs. The launch is scheduled to take place in early 2027. This model will be available in petrol, diesel and possibly electric variants. Let's take a look at its design and engine-performance details.

Design and interior

The production version of the Mahindra Vision S seems to retain the boxy and upright stance of the concept. It has features like squared wheel arches, thick rear pillars, upright glasshouse and rear-mounted spare wheel. L-shaped LED DRLs, flush-fit door handles and roof-mounted auxiliary lamps give it an aggressive look. Overall, it creates the atmosphere of a rugged lifestyle SUV, which will be suitable for both city and off-road.

The interior is premium and modern. Silver accents and glossy black inserts have been provided with the blue-black theme. Two large touchscreens (10.25-inch infotainment and digital driver display), three-spoke steering wheel, yellow dashboard straps and panoramic sunroof make it premium in the segment. The cabin is practical and spacious, with ventilated seats and good material quality.

Features and safety

It is going to have features like level-2 ADAS, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, ventilated powered seats, multiple connectivity options and a large touchscreen infotainment system. Physical buttons have also been given priority, so that it can be used easily off-road.

For safety, Mahindra will offer it with advanced safety features like multiple airbags, strong body structure and ADAS. Although the details are still pending, it is expected to come with good safety rating in the sub-4m segment.

Engine and Performance

A 1.5-litre diesel engine (inspired by XUV 3XO) mated to an automatic transmission has been seen testing. There may also be a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and possibly electric/hybrid options. With AWD capability it will provide good performance and off-road capability. Mileage and power figures will be finalized closer to launch.
