Thanks to the addition of the turbocharger, the smaller 1.0L engine produces 7PS more power and 31Nm more torque. It also delivers its peak torque from 2000 – 3500rpm, while the 1.5L engine produces its maximum torque at 4400rpm.
This gives the turbo a stronger mid-range on paper. During our first drive, the turbo felt responsive in everyday city driving. However, V3Cars is yet to drive the updated 1.5L petrol with its new 6-speed manual transmission, so we cannot make a direct driving comparison yet.

2026 Brezza Turbo Vs 1.5L Petrol Prices
Both engines are available in the LXi, VXi and ZXi variants. The turbo is also the only petrol-manual Brezza model offered with the top ZXi Plus variant.

The turbo costs less in every directly comparable variant. The difference ranges from Rs. 65,000 for the ZXi to Rs. 90,000 for the LXi.
Therefore, choosing the more powerful engine does not require stretching the budget. The turbo also allows manual buyers to choose the fully-loaded ZXi Plus, which Maruti do not offer with the 1.5L normal petrol-manual powertrain.

Which Features Does The Brezza Turbo Get Over The 1.5L Petrol?
The Brezza's equipment depends on its engine even when the variant name remains the same. The following table lists the key features offered with the turbo but missing from the equivalent 1.5L petrol-manual variants:

The equipment difference is particularly difficult to overlook in the LXi trim. Its 1.5L version costs Rs. 90,000 more but loses several practical features available with the turbo.
The ZXi 1.5L costs Rs. 65,000 more and retains most of the variant's common equipment. However, it misses several safety and convenience features offered with the ZXi turbo.
Can The Brezza 1.5L Recover Its Higher Price Through Better Mileage?
The 1.5L petrol-manual claims 0.62 – 0.85kmpl better mileage than the turbo. Using the Delhi petrol price of Rs. 102.12 per litre on August 5, 2026, it saves around Rs. 147 – 209 every 1000km.

The ZXi has the shortest recovery distance, but it still requires around 3,11,000km. Even after driving 2000km per month, the 1.5L variants would take approximately 13 – 26 years to recover their higher prices.
Therefore, the 1.5L petrol-manual’s mileage advantage does not justify its higher price on running costs alone. The turbo remains the better financial choice.
Should You Buy The Brezza Turbo Or 1.5L Normal Petrol?
The 1.0L turbo is the better choice for most Brezza petrol-manual buyers. It costs less, produces more power and torque, and offers additional features in every comparable variant.
The ZXi turbo is our top recommendation at Rs. 9.85 lakh. It offers the best balance of price, performance and equipment. Buyers on a tighter budget should consider the LXi turbo, while the ZXi Plus turbo suits those willing to pay more for premium features.
The 1.5L petrol-manual offers a 4-cylinder engine and slightly better claimed mileage. However, its fuel savings would require around 3,11,000 – 6,14,000km to recover its higher price. Buyers with a firm preference for the larger engine should test-drive both before deciding, but the 1.5L cannot be justified by its mileage advantage.
This verdict applies only to the manual variants. The 1.5L normal petrol remains the Brezza’s only option with an automatic transmission.
