Hyundai’s India expansion will add an India-specific electric SUV in Q4 2026 and another midsize SUV as 26 launches and updates arrive by 2030
At the Investor Day 2026, Hyundai confirmed plans for two new SUVs as part of its product roadmap through 2030 for the local market. An India-specific electric SUV will arrive in the fourth quarter of 2026 and it will be followed by another midsize SUV powered by ICE engines. The two products are part of Hyundai’s larger plan for 26 new launches and major updates in India by the end of the decade as the company will expand its electric, hybrid and conventional powertrains portfolios.
The forthcoming electric SUV has been developed specifically for India and will target a high volume segment of the market. Hyundai has confirmed its next generation infotainment system based on Pleos technology along with Level 2 assisted driving technology. Reports suggest a claimed range of more than 500 km on a single charge and it will be available with two battery packs.
The next-gen Creta is already under development and is expected to be part of the action. Speculations have also pointed to a strong hybrid powertrain for the five-seater midsize offering while the all-new Bayon is another model expected to join Hyundai’s Indian range with the crossover slotted between the Venue and Creta. The company is currently working on 26 launches and major updates for the Indian market through 2030.

It is part of a global programme that covers more than 100 launches and refreshes during the same period. The global powertrain strategy covers battery electric vehicles, hybrids and extended-range electric vehicles as Hyundai plans to introduce its first global EREV in the first half of 2027. Production capacity in India will also increase as the new products arrive and the new Creta arriving next year could introduce the brand’s first full hybrid system.
Hyundai currently has annual capacity of 11 lakh vehicles in the country and plans to add another 3.20 lakh units by 2030. India will retain its role as an export hub supplying vehicles to markets across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and South America. Hyundai has also set a 90 per cent local sourcing target for India by 2030. The company’s supplier network consists of more than 1,400 companies while its local engineering workforce exceeds 900 people.

Hyundai expects exports to account for around 30 per cent of its Indian production by the end of the decade. The targets will give India more significance in Hyundai’s manufacturing and export operations as the new product cycle takes shape.
