The upcoming model will bring a new powertrain choice to the Carnival range while continuing to focus on space, comfort and premium features.
Kia Carnival Hybrid: Powertrain Details
The Carnival Hybrid will use Kia’s G1.6T HEV powertrain with a six-speed automatic transmission. Its 1.6-litre petrol engine produces 178bhp and 265Nm, while the electric motor develops 72bhp and 304Nm. This will be the first time Kia offers the Carnival with an alternative powertrain in India since the MPV was introduced in the country six years ago.
The hybrid setup combines the turbo-petrol engine with an electric motor, replacing the conventional diesel powertrain used by the existing Carnival. The hybrid system will be available only with the six-speed automatic transmission.
Kia Carnival Hybrid: Features and Equipment
Kia will sell the Carnival Hybrid in one fully loaded Limousine+ trim. The MPV gets 18-inch crystal-cut dual-tone aero alloy wheels, along with active air flaps and a virtual engine sound system. The equipment list also includes a smart pure air purifier with an AQI display. The seat-back tables can be adjusted for height and come with wireless charging functionality. Other additions include monotone ambient lighting, cup holders and leatherette-wrapped door trims.
The hybrid version is aimed at buyers who want a large, feature-rich MPV but may not want to opt for the diesel-powered Carnival. The existing diesel model is priced just below Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom). Kia is expected to position the Carnival Hybrid at around Rs 56 lakh (ex-showroom). The final price will be announced closer to its market launch.
