Maruti Wagon R, launched in India in December 1999, is close to completing 26 years in the domestic market and is one of the longest-long-lasting models, including Honda City and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
SAIL crossed 1 crore in 31 years
Out of the 1 crore wagon R sold since 1993, an estimated 34,14,176 units have been sold in India. Wagon R has also been exported in India. The third and current generation wagon R makes about 12 percent of the global cell alone. In the financial year 2025, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,98,451 Wagon R, which is 1 percent less than FY 2024 (2,00,177 units). Wagon R FY 2023 (2,12,340 units) and FY 2022 (1,88,837 units) also had India's best -selling passenger vehicle.
Update received in 2019
Maruti Wagon R's sale has intensified since the launch of Third Jane model in January 2019. Wagon R was one of the first cars of Maruti Suzuki which got CNG Povertrain and is one of the best selling products in the company's broad CNG portfolio.
