Maruti Suzuki will launch a new midsize SUV on September 3, 2025, which is currently being called 'Maruti Escudo'. It will be based on Grand Vitara and will come with petrol-hybrid, CNG option.

Petrol-Hybrid and CNG options
The new Maruti is expected to be shared with SUV's Poetrain Grand Vitara, currently available with 103bhp Natural Aspirated Petrol, 116bhp Petrol-Hybrid and 88bhp CNG options. Transmission options will include manual and automatic units.
According to the leaked information, Maruti Escudo will be the first model of the brand that will have underbody CNG tank instead of placing CNG tank in the boot. This system will remove the complaints of limited boot space in Maruti's CNG cars. Petrol will offer mileage up to 40kmpl with hybrid CNG.
Four-wheel drive system
There will be a 4WD (four-wheel drive) system to separate it from Grand Vitara, which can only be offered on high trims. Maruti Grand Vitara comes with FWD (front-wheel drive) and AWD (all-wheel drive) configuration. According to the leaked information, the new Maruti 5-seater will be the first model of the Hybrid SUV brand with Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and Dolby Atomos technology. Both these features are not in its major rival – Hyundai Creta.
